A moving, unforgettable experience. Our guide, Oliver, was outstanding- a balance of historical knowledge, local information, diagrams/charts/photos, and also time left for us to walk around each site and reflect.

The private tour was comprehensive with no less than 7 stops- lasting from 8:30am-5:30pm. Standing on the beaches of Omaha and Utah is an experience that words cannot explain. We are humbled to have had this opportunity and thank Oliver and Overlord Tours.

Thierry, our tour guide, was incredibly knowledgeable on every aspect of D-Day and the events leading up to/after June 6th, 1944. Thierry was perfectly on time, picking us up at our hotel in Bayeux. Even though we had an agenda of what we were going to see that day, he customized the tour based on the questions we had. We started off at the Longues-sur-Mer Battery, where he brought detailed maps and diagrams - we then visited Omaha Beach where again, Thierry provided timelines, diagrams, and unique stories that we had never heard before. He gave us some time to really take everything in before we arrived to the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial. One could tell that Thierry had a profound respect for the history and weight of what had happened in each site we visited. He'd provide personal anecdotes, when asked, go well out of his way to provide/show examples, and more. It became very obvious that WWII, and specifically D-Day history, was a passion for Thierry - and that made the entire tour much more profound. We also visited Pointe du Hoc (of which the Army Rangers famously scaled the cliffs), Sainte-Mere-Eglise – the gateway to Utah Beach where the 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions famously dropped, the crash of the C-47 carrying 1Lt Meehan, which placed Dick Winters in charge of Easy Company/501st PIR, Marmion’s Farm, the battle of Brecourt Manor (where Winters led the assault on the 105’s aimed at Utah Beach earning the Distinguished Service Cross), the Angoville-au-Plain church/hospital, and Carentan. It was all very emotional/moving. Had Thierry not been there to guide us, we wouldn't have known the exact details/aspects of what we were seeing. To physically point out where details of even the most minute details occurred was simply incredible. If you have a passion and/or respect for history, this tour is a must - and Thierry is the best!

This was the second tour we booked with this company (we had taken a full day Omaha / Utah tour earlier in the week, and equally good). The tours were so informative and our guides were extremely knowledgeable and helped illustrate the recounting of real events via maps / folders with pictures of where we were located. This tour was particularly special as we had read the Band of Brothers book and watched the TV series. Being at some of the poignant battle locations (for example, Brecourt Manor and Carentan), provided us deeper perspective and appreciation of what this particular company of soldiers endured. Our guides provided ample time to walk around and ask lots of questions. The museum stops were incredible and well worth a separate visit if you have the time. Thank you to Thierry and Olivier from Overlord Tours, who were amazing and who took great care of us.

Where do I even begin? Thierry what is the tour guide for my husband and myself for the all day tour of Normandy. Talk about someone extremely knowledgeable about D-Day!! My husband and I learned things that we had no clue about … I lost count on how many times my husband said “wow”. You could tell that Thierry takes great pride in providing factual information at each of the sites that we visited. We went to the beaches, we went to Pointe du Hoc where there are literally huge craters where the bombs were dropped. We went to the American Cemetery, we went to a location where about 100 Germans were staying/hiding and a group of parrot troopers invaded the property and took control. Thierry shared pictures of this day and it was just incredible …again, we had no idea about all of this! While we were at this property, one of the owners stopped by and it was just an amazing experience. We went to several cathedrals, including the cathedral that was converted into a makeshift hospital by two medics, and who also provided medical care to the Germans (again, something else we didn’t know). A great thing about this tour is that Thierry refers to a large book with maps and photos and provides further detail/fact which really helps to visualize what really happened in Normandy.

Thierry takes extreme pride in his job, and in a heartbeat, I would do it again. If you decide to tour Normandy on your own, you are missing so much incredible detail. I wish I could post all the photos I took today! You need to book a tour with Thierry from Overlord Tours for an incredible memorable experience of touring Normandy. You will not be disappointed.

I had Olivier as a guide on this tour and I could not have asked for a better tour guide! I went on this tour solo so was kind of nervous on how it would go but I was immediately hooked. He taught we so many more things I did not know previously and showed me some incredible sites and have great references. I could not be more pleased with how this tour went and will remember it forever. Thank you!

Worth the time ( 9 hours) and the money! Our guide Thierry was skilled and so knowledgeable and brought along a large folder with maps and photos which added information for us to better understand events of June 6, 1944 and beyond. A great tour day that actually seemed too short! So well worth the time.

As a U.S. Army veteran, going to Normandy felt almost like a pilgrimage to pay homage to the sacrifice those soldiers and sailors made for our freedom. Finding out the intricacies of the operation was overwhelming. Our tour guide, Thierry was patient with our many many questions. His extensive knowledge of the entire operation was amazing. He took us to multiple sites, always careful to ensure that we were geographically oriented to how each visited site for into the overall invasion. Even before the tour began, we met some people at the grocery store in Bayeux who were impressed that we were going on this Overlord tour and told us this was one of the best D-Day tours. Even with the high expectations I had, Thierry and Overlord still managed to exceed what I expected. I am a wheelchair user. Thierry and his assistant tour guide, Remy, were extremely thoughtful of the chair and made sure I was going to be able to participate at each site as much as I'd like. They got so quick at taking the wheels off and putting them back on that they became my self described "pit crew". Thierry skillfully incorporated information about the Band of Brothers and several locations where they actually fought.
Thierry also had a great sense of humor and command of the English language. I could not recommend this tour more highly!

The event is extremely well thought out. From pickup, to providing robust, detailed information at each stop, to keeping us on schedule, the organizers are total pros. This tour begins footsteps from the Churchill Hotel, a lovely, charming and hospitable stay btw.

Once greeted by our guide, we pile into a modern, climate-controlled van and make our way to the guns at Longues-sur-Mer. While this was not where Easy Company fought, it is a wonderfully well-preserved landmark to Hitler's Atlantic Wall fortifications and our guide will provide tons of fascinating history about this emplacement and its significance to D-Day and the broader Normandy region occupation.

From there, we headed to the US Cemetery, which is as sobering a place to visit as any you likely ever will. Beautifully manicured, and meticulously cared for, our guide will share facts about what it takes to care for this hallowed place. You'll be on your own here, free to wander at your pace, providing you make it back to the van in time to stay on pace for your next stop, which is all things Easy Company and the Airborne. You'll visit and lunch in Sainte-Mere-Eglise, a charming village where the 82nd dropped the early morning hours on D-Day. You'll then head to various Easy Company skirmish and fighting locations, like Brecourt Manor, Caretan and a horse farm where 14 Easy Company men fought and captured about 80 Nazi soldiers occupying the location a few miles outside Sainte-Mere-Eglise on D-Day.

Your tour will conclude in Carentan, which is special in that it was very well photographed surrounding a handful of promotion ceremonies that took place after the town was captured by Easy and the 101st.

From there, you'll be returned to Bayeux, right where you originally boarded the van.

This tour was so precisely executed that we returned to the Churchill Hotel to nearly the second the tour's operators claimed we would.

An excellent tour with an excellent, well educated and knowledgeable
guide! I did not expect to be so affected by visiting the sights of Normandy. It was an emotional and poignant tour due to the wonderful commentary of our guide, Charles. Prepared with maps, historical photos and unscripted commentary our group was transported to D-Day and the terrifying mission of the Allied soldiers.
I must also comment that it was gratifying to see, this many years later, the honor and respect for the American troops. Flags and monuments are maintained throughout the countryside. Excellent Day all around! Thank you!
