What a fantastic experience

We have spent the last two days with Debbie and Simon at Hidden Valley Pigs. We think it should be called Happy Valley Pigs. We have learnt so much more than we expected to. We now have more confidence to be self sufficient and are going to be looking for a small holding. These guys are lovely and have such a vast knowledge and experience. If you are interested in a small holding or being more self sufficient then this is is the place to visit. We thank them for their wonderful course and wish them all the best in their plans for the future :)

Fantastic pork butchery course

Simon & Debbie raised a gorgeous pig for us and then taught us soooo much about how to butcher, freeze and cook the beautiful meat. We've already eaten the best sausages and pork belly ever. Thank you so much for all the love, care and attention to detail you have in rearing the pigs. Your knowledge and experience was a delight to share - thanks again

What an unbelievable experience this weekend has been at Hidden Valley Pigs, Devon. Just ask me if you want to know more.

The Rear a Pig Scheme & Butchery and Processing Nose to Tail Course; These Berkshire pigs are reared at the farm by Simon & Debbie as naturally as possible. They are kept in their natural woodland habitat outside all year round and kept in small family groups with acres of land to roam in.

I highly recommend this to anyone with an interest in food, farming or are interested in a cracking hands on foodie weekend. Debbie and Simon have taught me more than I’d ever imagine on this fun intense personal; as in only me, (they only take groups of 1-2people) two day course leaving me with loads of new hints, tips and skills. From tunnel boning to sausage making to Parma Ham curing to butter making....I could go on and on and on;
These two know their stuff and I couldn’t have asked for more out of the course. #hiddenvalleypigs

Fantastic experiences

We have been to two of Simon and Debbie's butchery courses, pork and venison, and found both to be amazingly informative, interesting and great days out (not to mention the half animal you get to take home!). Both Simon and Debbie have a wealth of knowledge about all things self sufficiency and butchery and are fantastic teachers. The courses are entirely personal with just you and them there and the pace at which they go through everything is spot on. Simon's home made bread and Debbie's soup for lunch are an absolute treat. Highly recommended!

We had the most amazing weekend with Debbie and Simon on their smallholding. We were made to feel welcome from start to finish and their enthusiasm for their lifestyle and their animals knows no bounds. I would highly recommend a course with them, it truly was heaven on earth

Amazing introductory farm experience

Meet Simon and Debbie at their farm nestled within a picturesque valley just outside Lynton, Devon.
We stayed within the beautiful town of Lynton and visited the farm over a long weekend. You can book a one to one experience with the proprietors via their website , Hidden Valley Pigs'.
It's not just pigs though... I learnt how to clip a goat’s feet, sheer a sheep, give medication and maintain a farm environment.
My wife learned how to dispatch, clean and prepare a chicken for the table and I learned how to butcher a pig into all the cuts imaginable.
Preparing the meats, sausage making and cooking tips are given by Debbie whom has a wealth of knowledge.
Both are credited as authors in their own right and are truly the nicest people I have had the privilege to meet.
If you have the desire to get back to the basics and learn just how our society is driving farming perhaps in the wrong direction then look these guy's up, you will not be disappointed.
