Its a decent lock.
When we went, there was construction going on and you couldn't access the area easily.
Its a decent area for a walk and is historically significant and provides a nice display showing how the lock system works.

At present the area is a large construction site and the lock can only be approached from one side. Unfortunately we did not see any ships passing the lock. After completion of the construction work, this will be an interesting attraction, if the weather is fine.

If you're in Port Severn; you would be remiss if you didn't take the opportunity to visit Lock 45 to see a boat or 2 passing through. Their (small) tourism building is clean with an abundance of informative literature (and video).

Great lock to take friends to who do not know how a lock works. Watch it lift boats up and down with very very friendly lock staff who will answer any questions you might have. Stop by the lock masters office to pickup some great material read later on when home.

My sister and I were staying at the Rawley Resort and went for a stroll. it was a very short walk to the lock. This was my first time at a lock. It was definitely cool to watch the staff operate the lock and watch the boats and seadoos pass through. It was quite busy! The staff were very efficient and fit as many vehicles as possible. There was also two historical boards with the history of the lock. We also grabbed an ice cream at Icebreaker right after. We had a great time!

No matter how many times you have watched a boat traverse a lock, it's fun to watch. On top of that, the Parks Canada staff at the lock are super-friendly and happy to show off the operation of the lock.

The guys at the lock were great as usual getting us through the lock, and were even slightly worried for us coming from the big chute as the weather was bad. A tough little lock (I feel) to get through by boat. Always some wind here, it takes man power to operate so a bit slow and it is smaller than the others before it on the system meaning the wait time could be a bit. And going up stream can be a bit tough with the water running out and the rock and wave and wind from Georgian Bay. Still a great area to dock and wait and watch with good views.

Very interesting to see how the lock works. My wife and I were on a walk, staying at Christie's Inn and Spa and watched 3 boats go through.

This was a very interesting site to see. Lock was in operation while there....would be a great point of interest to take the children too. This was our second visit here
