Loved it! Would happily come back to the shop.

We drove a long way to come here as we were trying to find some good Kent and Sussex produce. Where we live the farm shops are quite small and due to COVID we prefer larger airier establishments now, Gibsons was a perfect place for that. You walk in and everything is really open and airy. You’re immediately greeted with tons of produce, there’s so much to look at and a lot of it is local but there’s also non-local produce too. The deli counter was wonderfully stocked but manned by just one woman who was not just serving but also making food at the same time and it was just too much for one person to do she was very rushed off her feet with just a couple of customers to tend to.
We stopped in the cafe for a bite and a coffee, the coffee was lovely but the food is just boring really. The menu is so simplified you can’t get a sandwich or anything it’s basically scotch egg, scones or a crossaint. And if you’ve got kids you should bring a packed lunch because there is nothing for them to eat at all. I think the orangery area at the back of the cafe could do with a couple of tables being taken out so that it could help us be more distanced - there’s not much worse than hearing someone coughing on the table next to you and it putting you off your whole meal because you’re then anxious. Despite service being fairly slow the coffees were really nice and the place did feel really clean. I would just say that considering all the lovely produce they have at their fingertips there you’d expect more choices on a lunchtime menu.

Disappointing
ago. de 2021
Gibson's used to be a proper farm shop. Now it is difficult to find the stap!e basics amongst the pretentious paraphernalia which abounds. Secondly I bought a pack of Apple's, which I assume they buy in bulk and bag up themse!ves, only to find on unpacking that two Apple's had been strategically placed so the soft, rotten brown part would not be visible. I love too far to make it feasible to return. Very disappointed with the direction they have taken.

Definitely worth a look if Macknades is too far
jul. de 2021
I've lived close by to Gibsons since it was housed in what is now the stove shop, In those days it was a proper local farm shop without pretensions.
The new incarnation appears to be an attempt to copy Macknades at Faversham. In this it is partially successful. The prices are certainly similar though the range of foods is not as extensive.
A hybrid of farm shop , delicatessen, off licence, florists with a butchers thrown in. I cannot fault the friendly staff and their efforts to please. The butchers are also as helpful as they can be. Some products are ridiculously overpriced whilst others are very reasonable. In addition to specialist ranges they also maintain a basics selection of the sort of stuff you'd nip to the corner shop for.
I haven't used the cafe so cannot comment though I would say the cakes from the counter I've tried have been quite underwhelming so far. The takeaway cream tea is good value with butter jam and plenty of clotted cream for the two small scones included. I found the scones very dry and a little stale tasting but I might have been unlucky.
Definitely worth a look.

Bad experience
abr. de 2021
Bad experience on a recent visit to this shop my husband has severe disability after suffering a stoke and was thrown out for not wearing a mask (he is exempt) manager was completely unsympathetic to our situation and would not let me purchase any shopping ,she was rude and threw us out of the shop . I have been a loyal customer for many years and was extremely upset over this treatment and will never shop there again and not recommend it to people with a disability

Wonderful service - provided a much needed helping hand!
ene. de 2021
Thank you to the wonderfully, helpful team at Gibsons for making it possible for some lovely produce to be delivered to family members who sadly have to isolate at this time. They were over the moon with the quality and it enabled us to send a little love from rural Pembrokeshire during a challenging time.
So appreciated by a couple who would otherwise be shopping in person from you.
Thank you so much for everything !

Hidden gem

Have been visiting the area every year for donkeys years and always driven past Gibsons and seen the sign but never stopped until this year. Wish we had known about it sooner, such a lovely shop with great local produce and gifts. Also had a lovely outdoor seating area (distanced) where we sat whilst feeding our newborn baby and giving our toddler a snack that we'd bought at the shop. Lovely to sit amongst the fruit trees and look out at the hay bales

Lovely place but be careful on freshness of fruit.
jun. de 2020
Be very careful what you buy fresh fruit. Some of the goods are really good whilst others can be a bit hit and miss.
I recently got a large net of oranges but had to put them on the compost the next day as they were so dry and not even fit for squeezing, the flat peaches and nectarines were nearly all mouldy within 24 hours.

Having said that, the strawberries were brilliant and the large jars of their pickled onions were as always wonderful, this is the only place we buy our pickled onions !
The shop itself is always spotless, filled with many different items. Their tea shop / restaurant is always excellent, hopefully it will be able to open this again soon.

The first car park is being resurfaced at the moment so this will be a big improvement especially in the coming winter.

Disgusting Car Park
ene. de 2020 • Pareja
Visited this farm shop today and have done so on several occasions and still the first car park is in need of repair. There is a lovely new tarmac one, but to get to it you need an off road vehicle because of the large pot holes that you have to drive through and the mud you have to walk through to get to the shop is pretty bad. As I value my vehicle I will not be visiting again.

Probably the best Farm Shop in Kent
nov. de 2019 • Solitario
I have seen this business expand over many years. It is worth a visit just to see the array of unique, original and beautiful products on sale. The staff are helpful and friendly and the cafe is excellent. Don’t miss a visit here if in the area.
