It's hard to narrow it down! Francesco gave me a private tour of rhe farm where I picked olives right from the trees using both traditional & modern techniques. He is a passiomate maestro of his exquisite family business and narrated the entire day. Franca's cooking was endless and fantastica. The view is breathtaking. The experience unforgettable. I will never shop nor taste olive oil the same again! Grazie mille!

Delicious and intimate lunch at a beautiful olive oil farm. Francesco was a very gracious host and a wonderful chef. The olive oil was some of the best we’ve ever had. Definitely include this on your Sicilian itinerary! Tutto bene!!!!

Our family absolutely loved the Olive Oil Experience with Francesco Amodeo! We only had a few hours on our travel from Agrigento to Palermo, but could not have spent it any better. The relaxing family home was a perfect place to enjoy the countryside scenery. Francesco and Mrs. Franca prepared the most delicious spread of food, presenting olives and olive oil in so many different local preparations and served with delicious local wine. We enjoyed part of our meal in the cozy dining area of the family home, and then enjoyed our pasta course on the beautiful terrace. Francesco took us out into the grove and taught us both the old and the new way of picking olives on a small family run farm. We then had a tasting of several different oils, and certainly concluded that the best was the Amodeo Farm extra-virgin olive oil. We finished with a delicious dessert before departing with a giant bag of left overs to enjoy in our next town. I wish we had more time to spend with Francesco and enjoy his passionate exuberance for EVOO. I will be more educated and aware when purchasing EVOO in the future. The visit to his farm was one of the true highlights of our 10 day trip to Sicily.

An absolutely amazing day by the most incredible & passionate host Frank.. Frank has a wealth of knowledge & it was so interesting and fascinating listens to him. Who’d knew there was so much to learn;) The oil was delicious as was the lunch. We arrived as visitors and left as friends. This was the hi light of our two week holiday. This is a must, please support this independent and family run farm, #amodeo’sfarm. Thank you Frank, you made our holiday. Hope to see you again,

My husband and I visited the Amodeo Olive Oil orchard during our Italian vacation. It was my favorite day in Sicily because Francesco’s property, food, hospitality and passion for olive oil made me feel connected to my Italian family. I learned so much about olive oil and can honestly say their extra virgin olive oil is among the best I ever tasted. I cannot wait to share it with my friends and family. Francesco and his Zia made us feel like their personal guests. Their hospitality was heartwarming and the fresh local food they prepared was amazing. I will remember this day forever. I love to cook and will definitely order their extra olive oil going forward. The quality is second to none. This experience was 10 stars out of 5!!!! Tante Grazie Francesco.

Francesco and Mrs Franca could not have been more hospitable from start to finish.
Our family of four wanted to learn a little about olive oil, and after an afternoon with Franco we learned a whole lot about the journey of olives from tree to the final product of Extra Virgin Oil.
We were treated to fantastic food and wine. The host’s passion for Extra Virgin Olive Oil is clearly evidenced by the phenomenal liquid gold his farm produces.
We feel privileged to have spent our time at Amodeo Farm. It was culturally enriching, packed full of interesting facts and figures, but most importantly, really FUN for all the family.
Final note of advice; travel there on an empty stomach; their hospitality is overwhelming and generosity unprecedented. Grazie Mille Francesco and team.

My wife and I visited Amodeo’s Farm in May of 2022 during our honeymoon to Sicily. Nearly 100 years ago my family emigrated from the town of Montevago (which is where the farm is located) to New York City, it had always been a dream of mine to see where family came from. When planning my trip to Montevago I learned about Amodeo’s Farm and the wonderful experiences of other travelers – I knew such an experience was unique and would satisfy both my interest in my heritage and my interest in Sicilian agriculture and gastronomy. I emailed the owner, Francesco, who was very helpful and responsive to schedule a visit to his farm.

Before visiting the farm, I knew my wife and I were going to have a great experience at Amodeo’s Farm but I honestly underestimated the generosity and knowledge of the owner Francesco who created a very memorable day for the both of us. Francesco prepared a large spread of typical Sicilian food that my wife and I enjoyed outside overlooking the town of Montevago and the neighboring town of Santa Margherita di Belice. Accompanying the food was Amodeo’s Olive Oil made from the Nocellara del Belice cultivar, the native olives of Montevago and the Belice Valley. Previously my wife and I visited several olive oil farms in Spain and tried some of the cultivars near the city of Granada, but I must honestly say the Nocellara del Belice cultivar is the best we have ever tried.

Nocellara del Belice is one of the most popular olives used in Sicily to make olive oil, but some of the most famous Sicilian producers are owned by large corporations and their quality is not the best. Francesco’s farm is a much smaller operation that clearly takes great care and pride in producing its olive oil from olives native to their hometown of Montevago. Additionally, Francesco explained to us that many of the olive oils we buy in the supermarket are produced using various cost-cutting techniques that negatively affect the flavor and quality of the final product, essentially watering down the olive oil. To prove this, Francesco allowed my wife and I to blind test various olive oils you may find in supermarkets across the world – the difference is very noticeable! By simply reading the bottle of these olive oils you can see the oil is sourced from at least 4 different nations, blended together, diluted, and sold to consumers at inflated prices.

Throughout the day Francesco took the time to speak to me about my family that lived in Montevago, going out of his way to help point me in the right direction and explain the history of the town. In 1968, the original town of Montevago (the one my family emigrated from) was destroyed by a massive earthquake that affected the Belice Valley. The citizens of Montevago, including Francesco’s family and my extended relatives, endured great hardships as the town was rebuilt adjacent to the original which now lies in ruins. Later in the day Francesco pointed out the ruins of “Old Montevago’s” Chiesa Madre, which is where my family and many other montevaghesi attended mass, were baptized, and married prior to the 1968 disaster. It was honestly a surreal experience to walk in the same footsteps as my ancestors over 100 years later.

Before leaving, Francesco prepared espresso for my wife and I, accompanied by cassatelle (essentially an empanada filled with cannoli-like cream). To this day, I prepare these desserts with my family using the same recipe my montevaghesi ancestors used over 100 years ago. In the Sicilian language, we call them cassadedda.

If you are interested in quality olive oil, Sicilian gastronomy, Montevago, or simply visiting the Sicilian countryside for a memorable experience, I would highly recommend this experience!

Excellent service and experience. We joined Francesco for a meal featuring Amodeo olive oil, an olive oil tasting lesson, and a walk through the olive farm. The meal was abundant, varied, and delicious. Among the adults in our small party, we each had a different favorite, but we all agreed the food was the best we had in our weeklong trip. Francesco shared history of the area, information on the olive oil industry, and showed us how olives are grown/harvested. It was a great afternoon. We used gps coordinates to locate the start of the private drive, and we drove right to it without issue.
