מקום עם שירות חיוך וסבלנות
oct. de 2021

Great place to visit.

I visited the museum several years ago. They're in a new, much larger space, and I took my grandchildren there again. It was a wonderful visit for children of all ages. There was a lecture, which was well done. (You could choose to schedule it in either Hebrew or English.) The best part was seeing the exhibits and live animals. They allow you to touch and hold all kinds of creatures. It's not very crowded because only one group goes through at a time and there are lots of friendly staff to supervise and help.
It's great on a hot or rainy day, because it's all indoors and air conditioned. You need to schedule before. some slots fill up quickly.

great visit and very interesting and informative to my grandchildren

This is a "mixed bag", that is part zoo, part natural history museum, and part Torah education center. It showcases the mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and insects of Scripture, as well as related zoological topics from the Talmud. The large species are exhibited as taxidermy specimens, while live exhibits are maintained for smaller species, and there are also a large number of biological artifacts of religious significance. Visits are conducted via guided tours, which include hands-on experiences! The tour is exciting and interactive , we all learned the identities and symbolism of the animals of Scripture, lessons in Jewish values, law and history, and the natural history of Biblical Israel.

We had a wonderful experience meeting all the beautiful creatures mentioned in Torah texts. The kids had fun holding some of the animals and we learned a ton in a very short time. Kol Hakavod. Highly recommended for a fun and meaningful experience.

This place can be best described as an animal abuse centre.
jul. de 2019 • Familia
If you like stuffed dead animals, and poorly kept live animals then you will love this place! In all seriousness I was appalled by the actual conditions that the live animals were being kept in. The Guinea pigs for one were being kept outside on concrete with the birds and other small animals. It is a known fact that Guinea pigs have sensitive feet and everyone was harassing them. When you go inside to the building the condition these poor creatures are being kept in just gets worse. The snakes, lizards, and birds. Are kept in the same room as shofars that are being blown. It is also a known that reptiles are sensitive to loud noises especially noisy shofars being blown constantly. There is also a lack of supervision when it comes to animal handing and no one was told how to properly hold each animal. There was even a point where I found the lizard was placed in the wrong inclosure most likely because of the visitors but the lack of staff supervision allowed that to happen. Unless you like animal abuse centres you will not enjoy this place.

I am sorry that you felt this way. All our animals are under regular veterinary supervision and we pay great attention to their care; local vets even bring various animals to us which need special care. The guinea pigs are perfectly fine with the outside flooring and have never had any issues with their feet. It can be a little stressful for them when there are large groups, but they have plenty of places to hide, and it is certainly much less stressful than life in the wild. The noise of the shofars is a problem that unfortunately we cannot solve right now, but in a few months we are moving to a huge new building where the shofars will be in a separate room far from the animals. We have trained the volunteers in handling animals, and if problems are brought to our attention we fix them, but when large summer groups come, it is inevitable that the occasional mistake occurs. Please feel free to contact the office with any concerns that you have, and we will try to address them.

Great, Family Friendly Outing in Beit Shemesh
feb. de 2019 • Familia
We have been to the museum twice since we got here 6 months ago. It is a great look at history as well as a kid friendly, somewhat hands-on outing just minutes from where we live in Beit Shemesh. There is a lot to see but it isn't too much to take in. We recommend it highly!

Biblical Museum of Natural-an unknown gem
feb. de 2019 • Familia
We took our 8 grandchildren to this museum a few days ago(ages 5-13) and we were all blown away! The excellent guide (Yedidya) was patient, provocative(in asking and involving the kids) and very knowledgeable. The exhibits are professionally done and speak to a well-thought our process of observing and learning--and most importantly experiencing. Whether it is huge sea shells, snakes and lizards which can be handled or the extensive animals( taxidermy enhanced) it makes for an interesting visit of an hour+. The museum is the brainchild of Rabbi Dr. Sliptka who defines himself as an amateur zoologist. It is clear from the museum and the film shown that he is much more than that and the museum is a tribute to his dream and its fulfillment. It is located in Bet Shemesh makingit easily accessible from Jerusalem, Tel Aviv or the Rehovot-Rishon Letzion areas.

You’ve gotta go here!!!
ene. de 2019 • Familia
We went with our boys, ages eight and 10. The experience is very much hands-on. The director and guide passed around so many different animals and other items such as shells, bones, models etc. It was fantastic.

We handled a number of reptiles, including a 12 foot long 100 pound python.

There were amazing explanations about how the natural world intersects with the Bible. It was so interesting. It really brought things that had been studies in scripture to life.

A must see.
