I have visited this area many many times with my children and on my own since 2016 quite regularly and it always left us with great memories. The views of the mountains and the river passing by are definitely something to remember for. Great outdoor spot.

Went in early December when eagles swarm to feed off the salmon. You could see a dozen in one tree alone.
Due to Covid-19, my rafting trip was cancelled, so I hiked up along the river bank just past Fergies cafe. Gorgeous scenic area with lots of moss, fishermen, eagles and vultures.
Beautiful afternoon just walking along the river. The cafe is a warm and pleasant follow up.

Brackendale is known for eagle watching. We went there a few years ago in January. That time we sure enjoyed the excitement. This time we went there to take our lunch break and hope to see an eagle or two. But September is too early for eagles. We did enjoy our lunch under the nice shelter, surrounded by serene scenery and entertained by a few turkey vultures and seagulls. Happy Travelling!

Saw many eagles. We were even able to take a photo through the telescope viewing. The guides were very Hellman’s informative.

We always stop here to do some eagle watching. Sadly this time no eagles, but the view never disapoint. Saw lots of turkey vultures and some unique benches on the way. The little restaurant.....oh my goodness, what a gem.

Living in British Columbia we are spoiled by the abundance of eagle sitings. Vancouverites can often see eagles in the city parks. For example, I often see eagles along Spanish Banks.
However, Brackendale is known for the large numbers of eagles that collect there when the salmon are running up the river. Brackendale has a nice shoreline pathway that is easy to get to and from which you can see the eagles.

Beautiful spot to have lunch or dinner at! The food is excellent. In October / November you can come and watch the eagles nesting across on the other side of the river! Very peaceful and relaxing

The path along the river was great. Many signs with information about the area. We were off season for the eagles but it was beautiful. Saw deer across the river and seals in the river.

There is very little signage for this site and we drove past before we realised where we were. The car park is adequate and there is covered seating alongside the water. We saw 3 bald eagles but apparently at times they are more evident. Pleasant walk on top of the dyke. Cafe is available if needed.

Although we ventured well outside what was considered the prime viewing time for eagles, the information provided by BC Parks regarding the provincial park is extremely misleading.
The Brackendale Eagles Provincial Park is not accessible without having to negotiate the Squamish River. The confusing and misleading part is the map application on the BC Parks website where it gives driving directions into an Indian Reserve and private property. Although website does state is park is not accessible from the east bank of the river it does indicate where the wildlife viewing areas are on the website.
Sadly, there is little or no signage to indicate where those areas are if you're driving on the road or the highway. The only sign I had encountered was confusing and had led me nowhere, so I gave up trying to find it. In the end, the only redeeming part was the great scenery in the area. I think the authorities could go a better job by putting more signage on Hwy 99 indicating a wildlife viewing area when coming into Brackendale considering how famous the area is.
Personally, I had better luck seeing eagles in the Boundary Bay area of Delta and I had seen them walking along the dyke area and the area near Ladner Trunk Road west of the Hwy 99 junction.

Planning a visit to the area in July 2019. I am handicapped and use an electric scooter when my husband and I travel. I can walk short distances with a walker. Can past visitors please tell me which activities and parks in the Squamish area are handicapped accessible? (i.e. Paved, flat trails or packed dirt). Thanks so much for your input!

The ideal time to see bald eagles in Brackendale eagle Reserve is mid December to mid January.
The number of eagles here is directly related to the amount of fish in the rivers and streams in the area.
The owner of the place we stayed at in Squamish told us that there are good sightings from mid November to mid February as the salmon run during this period.
We saw a few resident eagles in Squamish in July and lots of them around Campbell River, Vancouver Island.
I think you will have excellent bear sightings on Vancouver Island in October.
