A Charming country parkland within Isle of Man for visitors to enjoy a nice stoll around an area of garden paths and mature woodland trails. The area has a bounty of sculptures and art work and there are a few areas which show off the immaculate beautiful surroundings where you can sit and watch the day go by. There are also a number of ponds where the ducks paddle back and forth for attention. The only issue I could see was that there is no map at the entrance which makes it very hard to know where you are going or what is in the park.

Adjacent to the church and Tynwald site, the National PArk and Arboretum was opened in 1979 to commemorate the millennium of the Isle of man Tynwald. Each of the seventeen parishes donated trees and shrubs. Over the years these have grown into large specimen trees.

The area covers about 25acres and is an attractive area of mature trees and grassland around a lake with ducks. There are a few hens scurrying around too.

It is divided areas representing the seventeen different parishes whuch are each marked with a small wooden sign.

There are a series of concrete or wooden walkways (take care as these can get slippery when wet) around the site with seats.

It is a pleasant place walk around or to drop out on a warm sunny day.

On our first day it was pouring with rain so we re-visited St Johns on our last day - bright and sunny. We had a really lovely walk through the more manicured section with areas named after the island's parishes, and also a short walk in a more wild area to the north and up the hill. What was most disappointing is that there was no visitor information of map to describe the paths and areas so we had no idea how far the wilder area stretched and how to plan a circular walk back. Feeding the ducks is obviously a very popular activity for the many young children we saw in that area. A map/pdf online would help, or leaflets or a map at the main entrances.

A hidden gem behind Tynwald Hill which can be accessed from the hill or from the car park behind the church. A range of mature trees, a pond with ducks and lots of places to sit and enjoy the peaceful surroundings (when the grass isn't being mown)

Adjacent to Tynwald Hill and Church, the park is also known as St Johns Arboretum. Created to mark the Millennium Anniversary of Tynwald (Isle of Man Parliament). The grounds were planted with trees from the 17 Manx Parishes. Wooden signs are engraved with each parish name and mark gatherings of trees, bushes and flower beds.
There is a children's play area and a large pond with ducks etc.

Nature lovers will enjoy the tranquillity.
