Peaceful Place
sep. de 2021 • Pareja
Amazingly peaceful place!

You don't need to know anything about Benjamin Britten or his music to love the Red House.

A really amazing home and possibly one of the most peaceful gardens I've ever experienced.

If you only take time to have a drink & cake on the croquet lawn and soak up the atmosphere you'll take something away.

If you are interested in Britten you'll have a treat.

You should book though.

Glad we went.

Very well presented home and Museum, helped by dedicated, knowledgeable staff and volunteers. Highly recommended, whether you know much about Britten and Pears or not.
Not for young children, but intelligent, thoughtful young people will enjoy it and appreciate the house and the story. Lovely gardens too!

The highlight of our week!
may. de 2021 • Pareja
Our visit to The Red House was the highlight of our week in Aldeburgh. Stunning gardens and a fascinating insight into the composer’s life. The house itself is magical and filled with art, books and tasteful furniture yet has a homely, welcoming feel to it. We enjoyed coffee in the garden, a browse in the shop and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Thanks go to the friendly staff who obviously care a great deal about The Red House. Highly recommended.

Step inside and step back in time

This is a treat. The path you take through the excellent museum and on into the house then gardens is well thought out. Play the famous cup/mug tree, learn about the music the men, the performances and thought the exhibition and house, the lives of two extraordinary artists.

A wonderful place to visit
oct. de 2020 • Pareja
It was very easy to buy timed tickets to look around Red house. We took my mother-in-law , in a wheelchair , and they had an even smaller one to lend us, which was even more manoeuverable inside the house and galleries. The house is interesting and delightful, it’s as if they’ve just popped out! The volunteers were knowledgeable, friendly and very helpful. The gallery has an audio tour , which you can download onto your phone. The gallery and exhibition building was very well laid out and everything was beautifully presented. We looked around the magnificent gardens at the end . We couldn’t believe how many flowers were still in bloom . I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending this place, whatever the weather whatever the season. The bonus being you can return as many times as you like In a year for free

Well worth seeing
oct. de 2020
You do not have to know anything about Benjamin Britten and Peter Pears to enjoy a visit to their home. It is so cosy and welcoming that it is almost as if they are about to walk in. The gardens, too, while not large, are pleasant. Make sure, too, that you visit their graves in the small municipal cemetery next to the churchyard of Aldeburgh's parish church.

A treasure trove of artefacts from the Britten-Pears collection
ago. de 2020 • Pareja
A thoroughly enjoyable and insightful visit beautifully presented and maintained in a fitting manner.
We did not feel particularly robbed by the Covid-19 restrictions in place because this venue and collection had so much to offer. We were treated to a warm welcome at reception and were made to feel that we could spend as much time here as we needed to. Of course, our 12 month ticket will allow a further visit should we be back in Aldeburgh, and if it were possible we would love to come and see more as and when the restrictions are listed.
There is so much to see and absorb. The exhibition is full and highly informative, laid out logically without being overwhelming.
Thank you for the care and attention you give to the exhibition and your visitors. I shall definitely be revisiting my music collection when I return home!

Make sure you make time to go upstairs
mar. de 2020 • Pareja
An amazing place. We had a tour of the house upstairs from the librarian Dr N C who was both delightful and knowledgeable supported by friendly volunteers. A true immersion in the lives and legacy of Brittan and Pears. And the 2013 archives are worth a visit too.

A special place
oct. de 2019
The house/home is preserved exactly as it was when Britten and Pears lived there. Helpful guides showed us around the upstairs but we were free to wander downstairs. The library and exhibition were amazing. Tea and coffee is available in a help yourself area of reception, but there is no cafe. The toilets were lovely though!
