I am a hobbyist photographer and have never claimed otherwise. That said, I love capturing the "perfect" shot as much as anyone else. I stumbled over Aperture Tours while looking for a photography-based tour during my time in Paris. I spoke with Alexander via chat regarding a few questions, and booked the six-hour afternoon/night tour. It was worth every penny (or Euro).
I had the pleasure of working with Clara, who is absolutely delightful. I've struggled with applying the academic knowledge regarding aperture/f-stops, exposure/shutter speed, ISO, etc. to actual field work. I'm a hands-on learner and needed to put it into practice as the terms were being discussed. Clara worked with me to gain a better understanding of how to use the manual functions of my camera so I have less work to do in post––to take the photo and not create it after the fact. I continued to do so throughout the remainder of my vacation, including a trip into the Arctic Circle to view the northern lights, and was successful. This tour will cost more than other options, but aside from visiting locations of interest to photograph, you get one-on-one instruction from a professional photographer to improve your own skill set. As stated above, it's worth the price and I will utilize them again in the future if I travel to an area where Aperture Tours is staffed.
