Took an hour to get there. All closed up. Had tried to call before we left to make sure it was open which said it was on their website. No phone number to call. It looked deserted. Even the large Hummel statue outside needed a paint job. Another family showed up and were also upset. Don't trust the website.

Not open. Nothing on website to say this. Only found out after 2 hour drive. During "open hours" but I guess closed due to Covid. Very frustrating, but enjoyed shopping at Goebel across the street.

Within the last 15 years I started collecting Hummels. My love of Hummels began when I was given one as a gift from a friend. Since then I have loved them. In 2018 my husband and I went to Germany for our 25th anniversary and when planning our trip I noticed the factory in Roedental was within driving distance from Nuremberg. Our guide was personable and patient, since I kept asking so many questions and I was allowed to take pictures during our tour of the building. I will look forward to our next visit.

Opposite Goebel's store across the street lies Hummel. There one can find more valuable porcelain. Next to the store, you can look at the factory's products from earlier times in a small museum.

Even if you are not a fan of Hummel figurines you can still appreciate this little Museum/Factory/Store.
Factory Tours are only once a week on Tuesdays and you get to see how the figurines are hand made.
Store and Museum are open 10am till 5 on weekdays, 10-1 on Saturday. closed on Sundays.

The Goebel Factory outlet is right across the street.

If you at all enjoy collecting Hummels, it is definitely worth the time and effort to visit the Hummel Factory. The ladies tending the museum and shop were some of the most friendly and accommodating people we met on our trip to Germany.

I have been collecting Hummel figurines for almost 50 years so it was an exciting experience to tour the factory in Coburg about 20 years ago. You are able to walk through the entire factory, watch the artist painting the separate pieces before they are assembled and fired. At the end of the tour you enter the museum where all the things are displayed that have been produced there. In addition to the Hummel figurines, plates and bells there are animals and other pieces on display. Truly a wonderful experience. "when did you visit?" didn't offer a choice over a year ago.

My sister wanted to visit the factory. I never understood the lure of Hummel’s or why they cost so much. Now I know! The tour is well worth the 5€ fee. It was an eye-opening experience. Most factory tours are pre-designed with ropes as you walk through just a portion of the factory. This tour was different. We walked through most of the factory, right next to the workers and artists and was able to talk with them and ask questions. I never knew how complicated and time consuming the whole process was. I have a whole new appreciation for Hummel’s. I highly recommend taking time to take the tour. Just remember you need make a reservation as the factory tours are only on Tuesdays at 10:00am or 2:00pm.

My trip to Europe in August of 2002 took me to France, Switzerland and Germany but the highlight of the trip was going through the Goebel factory. Ulrich Tendera, Manster Painter was our guide who showed us the different steps it takes to create one hummel and how many individual parts each took. I saw shelves of Hummels that hadn't yet been fired and painted throughout the factory as well as those to be introduced. The artists worked vigorously and did amazing work painting the Hummel assigned them.Watching Helmut Fischer, Master Sculptor of Goebel was very interesting as he displayed how he molds a Hummel by turning a lump of clay into a very attractive child. My favorite room there was the Hummel Room which displayed some of the most beautiful pieces. The Merry Wanderer displayed outside the entranceway was the most fantastic Hummel I've ever seen and would like to have taken it home! The luncheon served us at the factory was delicious, purely German style. Everything, especially the sauerkraut!
