Easy parking and a short walk through the trees leads you out onto some beautiful heather moorland with springy turf and mostly dry easy walking. Along the way lots of interesting old small secretive quarries, standing stones, towers and trig points. Suspect the bilberries would be out in force at other times in the year so worth a return. We did a 3 or 4 mile circular walk and saw lots of useful information boards on the way.
The small oak trees are really pretty and Stanley and Fiona loved climbing into the lower branches.

We walk her fairly frequently it's a wonderful place and due to its mystical past always has a sense about it! Interesting to think that Lords and Ladies passed their Sundays up here in horse and carriages. Stunning Derbyshire views from every angle.

I was camping nearby and went for a wander round the moor on a soggy Saturday afternoon but it was still a nice walk.
It’s easy to get round and some interesting things to see.

We explored the area around the rear of The Druids Inn. Deep holes & cut steps along with stone seats & caves. Dangerous area for children & those who are not good on mobility. Stanton Moor is a beautiful walk down to the stone circle shown in my photographs. We were there on a day of heavy rain & high winds. It did not spoil the atmosphere or the enjoyment of our walk.

Took the wife for an evening stroll up on Stanton Moor.
Lovely relaxing area - though it really needs more direction signs as its very easy to get lost, especially as dusk!
Highly recommended for getting away from it all!

Beautiful scenery and a very peaceful and quant walk until you come across the hoards of teenagers taking drugs and ruining the place with litter and a strong smell of cannabis. Seems like a regular hippie hangout, if it wasn't for this it would be a superb picnic spot.

Stanton Moor is a area in the Peak District not too far from Sheffield. We did this hike called "across Stanton Moor" in about 3 to 4 hours. The trail passes through fields, some forested areas, beautiful heath, a lovely camping site where you can get refreshments and around farms. There are some very nice views on the way as well as Bronze Age sites and Druid history well described on sign posts.
This makes for a really enjoyable outdoor day. It is not a technically difficult walk.
