Must visit

This is a very beautiful temple. If you are around Madikeri I would say this temple should be on your must visit list.
Preferably visit early morning before there is too much crowd...

Birthplace of River Kaveri
ene. de 2021 • Familia
Birth place of River Kaveri, Tala Kaveri temple is located on top of Bhramagiri hills. The temple worships Kaveri river and has separate idols for Lord Ganesha, Agasteshwarar and Kaveri amma. A small yet beautiful temple, a must visit and if you are Kodagu area.

We drove from Virajpet and the drive was wonderful. It felt as if we had large swathes of road just for ourselves.

Nice temple!
nov. de 2020
We saw the place where the river Kaveri sprouts right from mother earth. It's a clean, sanitized temple and well taken care by the Government. Please cover your self completely before entering the temple premises. You have a Rs. 10/ person auto service to reach the main entrance of the hotel.

Unhappy
ene. de 2020
I visited this place almost 10-12 years back. I travelled with my family a lot and we visited many places in our country.
One of our worst experiences happened here. We - me, my husband and our two young children (now they are adults) visited this fine place in a morning. The place was amazing and climbing the steps in the morning mist was refreshing. We brought a bottle for collecting the holy water. We took a bath and changed our cloths. Then took a receipt for doing a pooja to 'Mother Kaveri' and waited patiently in the line. When our turn came we were summoned by the priest to sit on a wooden seat by the side of the holy pond. We sat there promptly and the pooja started. We were given some instructions. All of a sudden, a pan chewing staff came with a couple. He conversed with the priest. The priest rudely asked us to stand up and stay aside. He made the other couple sit in our place and started the pooja for them. We were taken aback at first and then questioned it. But the staff as well as the priest ignored us with a crooked smile. Agitated by all these we decided to leave the place.
Before leaving, we tried to collect water from the pond, but prevented by some other staff as the 'dakshina' was not given to them. We were not in a mood to fight at the holy place. So, we left that place with heavy heart.

This is one of the very few negative experiences happened to us during our 20 plus years of travelling. I may not visit this place again.
I am showing the time of my visit as "January 2020" as the site is not giving me the option to show 10 years back. Please forgive me for that.

Beautiful drive

Thala Kaveri temple is around 40 km from Madikeri. There are bad patches of roads in between. Took us around an hour to reach. The temple is just below the mountain peak. The walk to the peak was closed. The temple is nicely made with Shiv Linga and Ganesha's temple inside. The view of the the Western ghats is magnificent and you are literally above the clouds. P.s If you are on motorcycle you will have a nice ride uphill and downhill.

Must visit temple - the origin of Kaveri river. Great view point by climbing some 370 steps when one can enjoy the mesmerizing views of the Brahmagiri range; ensure to reach before 3PM as entry to the view point is closed by 4PM and the ghat road from Bhagamandala to Talakaveri is closed by 6PM

Very nice temple at the origin of River Cauvery. There is a small climb after the temple to the peak of the hill with a very nice view.

Great place ...
oct. de 2019
Tala Cauvery, considered to be the source of Cauvery River, situated at a distance of about 50 km from Coorg.

At first, parking process was smooth. You have to keep your shoes outside the temple premises. There is a counter where you can keep your footwear in exchange of a minimal price (as far as I can remember it was Rs. 2 only per person).

There are temples of Lord Shiva, Lord Ganapathi and some other god/ goddess. The premises are very very clean. As this place is situated at a higher altitude, the weather was very comfortable. If you wish to offer pujas, there are fixed rate chart. But, if you are not interested no one will force you. The temple, surrounded by mountains, becomes more beautiful when cloud covers the place. You will feel like you are in an ocean of clouds.
