Nestled in the lush hills of Pichincha, Ecuador, Finca Cafetera Frajares is a family-owned coffee farm dedicated to producing high-quality, sustainable coffee. Visiting this farm offered more than just a chance to taste exceptional coffee—it was an opportunity to understand the craftsmanship and care behind every bean. From the moment we arrived, the Frajares family greeted us with warm hospitality and freshly brewed coffee, set against the stunning backdrop of rolling green hills and misty valleys.

Our tour began with a walk through the coffee fields, where vibrant green plants bore clusters of ripe red cherries. Our guide shared insights into how the farm’s altitude of 1,700 meters, combined with unique climatic conditions, gives their Típica and Caturra coffee varieties distinctive flavors. While we skipped the drying process, we enjoyed expertly brewed coffee on the terrace. I tried a pressed coffee infused with coffee cherry, offering a subtly fruity twist, while my wife and son enjoyed an Americano and a flat white, respectively. The experience was made even sweeter with a piece of rich dark chocolate accompanying each cup.

Finca Cafetera Frajares is more than just a coffee farm—it’s a celebration of Ecuador’s natural beauty and the dedication of small-scale farmers. Whether you’re a coffee connoisseur or simply curious about the journey of the coffee bean, this finca is a must-visit destination. You’ll leave with a deeper appreciation for the art of coffee-making and, of course, some delicious coffee to savor long after your trip.

You can’t imagine how beautiful this coffee shop is when you arrive, you have to wait until you pass the parking lot to appreciate the gorgeous house, view and ambiance.

The coffee is excellent and the appetizers too. Good bolon and tasty humitas. Very nice service too.

I totally recommend this place. It’s a new must to visit close to Quito.

I visited Finca Frajares in Feb 2019 (sorry late with the review), with my boyfriend at the time. He is a true coffee lover & it was his first time in Ecuador so I wanted something special. This truly was the perfect experience.

I initially reached out to their Whatsapp number listed on their website (WhatsApp is very popular for businesses in Ecuador) & the owner, Francisco was extremely responsive & accommodating. They were able to email me a detailed description of the different tours they offered & we did a full tour with lunch included & even included our driver in the experience instead of having him wait for us in the car (we had to pay for him as well but we were offered a nice discount).

The tour itself was a half day & they took you from the harvesting through the entire process all the way down to roasting the coffee beans yourself! We did a tasting, were greeted with lemonade/tea made from the shells of the coffee beans & had a delicious lunch prepared for us (lunch at a small added cost). It was raining that day but there were no issues as they had boots & ponchos ready for us.

The finca itself was beautiful & Francisco conducted most of the tour, which was such a pleasure getting to hear from the owner himself & seeing the work they do on the finca. The grounds were very well kept & the workers we did interact with were very knowledgeable about the process & seemed extremely dedicated to their craft. They also mentioned many of the benefits working for this finca & were treated very well so that was a pleasure to see.

During the tasting, we also had some chocolates to pair & it really made me appreciate the coffee world even more. We were the only ones there that morning which was a treat because it felt like we had our own private experience away from Quito.

Getting there was relatively easy as our driver was familiar with the area, but Francisco also messaged us a map of the area because Google Maps can only take you so far in certain parts of the Andean countryside. We had to look out for signs to get there but once we found the road to drive on we came upon the gorgeous finca with horses & cows & dogs as well.

We happily left with our own roasts & couldn't have been happier. Francisco is doing something really special for the specialty coffee world in Ecuador, this is surely a must-see in the area!
