Enhances the seasons especially autumn...

a beautiful well cared for highway... nicer to travel than 95 because there are no trucks... several gas stations along the way to use the bathroom or get a snack...

Beautiful Autumn ride
oct. de 2020 • Solitario
I am so pleased that I drove on the Merritt highway. The trees were beautiful. But I really enjoyed how each bridge was different from the others.

Drove on Merritt to Stamford and New Haven

Overall just a really beautiful ride. I can’t wait to go back in the spring when I take it again on my way to New Haven. It’s a really beautiful stretch to take as opposed to the interstate.

뉴욕으로 가는 멋진 길
oct. de 2019

The Quieen of all Parkways
jul. de 2019 • Solitario
Must-see if you like history, nature and architecture, this beautiful Parkway from the 1930’s is a national treasure

Yes, today it is over-crowded with cars, but commercial vehicles (including trucks) are banned. Also gone are the tolls, allowing non-stop travel for 56 bucolic miles.

The Parkway boasts the nation’s first clover leafs and unique bridges. There’s also a tunnel and recently renovated service areas. And in Stratford, a small museum detailing the design and construction of this unique road.

Merits avoidance
may. de 2019
The storied old parkway was an engineering gem in its heyday. Now it's hopelessly overrun with vehicles and a slow, frustrating run.

Throwback to the Past

I was traveling in Connecticut and a local friend took me on the Merritt Parkway instead of Interstate 95. The bridges are absolutely beautiful.

No Trucks!
may. de 2018 • Pareja
The best part about this is the lack of trucks--this is cars only. The bridges over the highway are also very interesting, having been part of a project to make this a true "park"way--each bridge is different. It has been updated with somewhat better access to rest stops, but the on and off ramps are quite short and caution should be taken.

no way that we would be taking the Interstate!
jun. de 2018 • Pareja
This Merritt Parkway is a lovely drive. Much nicer than the Interstate. A lot of bridges over it (I believe over 70) and a lot of green. It really is a lovely drive.

Beautiful highway
oct. de 2017 • Familia
A beautiful highway, much better to get from Fairfield County to NYC than I-95, probably the ugliest road in CT, especially through Bridgeport and Norwalk. Experiences a lot of traffic, but it’s worth it. It is a two lane road so if you have construction and one lane is closed you’re screwed. The rest stops are small but nice, and it drives through insanely rich parts of Fairfield County, including the Golden Triangle in the town of Greenwich, one of the richest neighborhoods on planet Earth. Easily the prettiest road in CT, avoid from 95 at all costs.
