I was attracted to it because of the exhibition on Little Prince. I had long wanted to go earlier and been tracking the days. I am glad that I have finally make it there. I loved it at once and could not bear to go.
There are exhibits about the author, the book on Little Prince as well as the exhibits in the dark. It is a wonderful experience. Greatly recommended for all who loves Little Prince.

Singapore Philatelic Museum was opened on August 19, 1995. Singapore Philatelic Museum is housed in a century-old, double-story, colonial building. The original plans of this building were approved on 22 June 1906.
The museum collections start from the 1830s and include stamps from different countries around the world.
Some of the stamps in the display comprise of stamps make from gold foil, stamps made of silver, embossed stamps, scented stamps (scents include rose, coffee, chocolate, lemon, strawberry, jasmine tea, honey, ginger bread), glow in the dark stamps, stamps embellished with Swarovski crystals, lace embroidered stamp, cloth stamps to list a few.
The museum houses different exhibits and permanent displays. One of the current exhibits is based on the book The Little Prince written by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, the exhibition celebrates the 75th anniversary of the publication in 2018. This exhibit is very interesting, fun for people of all ages esp. for children and is also interactive. Free admission for resident s and $8 for non-residents. There is a restroom and a gift shop in the museum.

Frankly, I am not a stamp lover, but I wanted to take a look at the Little Prince Exhibition that had been going on for a while now so I actually headed over to the museum on Day 2 of Chinese New Year 2019. And I'm glad I did.

The Little Prince Exhibition very informative - it provided a lot of background as to how and why Antoine de Saint-Exupéry wrote the famed book that was translated into more than 300 languages. The most interesting bit for me had to be the imagined sculptures of the various characters like the lamplighter and the businessman. Apparently, the sculptures were so well-made that they were estimated to cost more than SGD20K each ! If you would be heading there before 17 Mar 2019, do head to the Little Prince Exhibition for a walk about - you'd be surprised at what you learn and see.

Other than the Little Prince exhibition, I also went on a guided tour of the Philatelic Museum. The tour introduces visitors to the history of the museum whilst highlighting certain interesting bits of the postage history of Singapore. The key takeaway for me had to be the fact that stamps and coins evolved along with history. For example, under colonial rule, our post boxes' designs were based on UK's, adorned with the royal emblem but as we turned independent, the royal emblem was being filed off, and slowly we rolled out post boxes of our own. As we march into the digital age, the utility of stamps is slowly fading away, but it still bears value as a historical witness of the events that Singapore had experienced in the past.

I personally recommend you stay here 2-3 hours with your family (it is a superbly child friendly place) and it is air-conditioned so it is comfortable for you to do so. Overall, a thumbs up !

I brought my Son, 7 and daughter, 5 on a Sunday afternoon. The Singapore Philatelic Museum is one of the least spoken about hidden gems but it is definitely worth a visit. If you are Singaporean, the entry is free and not miss out the Peranakan museum which is just located minutes away. I hope you all will enjoy as much as we did.

A small museum brimming with interesting things. The exhibition on the Little Prince as well as the envelope exhibit were fascinating. $8 for foreigners but well worth it. Front desk workers are polite and informed. Thank you for a lovely visit.

Diajak teman yang inign melihat pameran Little Prince.
