Knowing that Singapore has very little creativity and while Haji Lane is quickly becoming Tourist traps with imported good and second hand pieces, its really hard to come by Singapore-Designed Label
We found this really humble local designer that runs a shop in the very offbeat Cathay mall. What draw us in was the leather goods and men shirts! We chatted up with Andrew, the Designer himself and he explained that most of this influence are from Japanese cult streetwear and Old Western. Usually they purchase exotic fabrics from all over the world in rare quantity [example: ethnic poncho fabric from Mexico, or vintage discontinued denim like fabrics] So some designs are produce in very small batches. This concept of using unconventional exotic fabrics integrated into Vintage looking streetwear is definitely impossible to get off shelf of mainstream brands.
Also the leather goods were custom. We tell him what we need and the designs them to be functional and gets a Singaporean Leather Artisan to finish the product. Lead-time about 2weeks.
I got a shirt, vintage denim pinstripe pants and ordered a custom namecard holder. Paid slightly over $300 for all 3 items for some customized and small batch release items.
I would say this is more of a place for men who have a very individualistic defining style and getting some statement pieces for that Signature look.
