We did a tour of Jabal Akhdar and Nizwa. Our guide Issam met us at the foot of the mountains as we drove down from Muscat. He took us up to the mountains and we took a walk down one of the valleys. We had some fresh apricots from the valley. Issam pointed out all the different trees and the fruits they bear such as walnuts pomegranate and apricots. We visited a few places and took in the spectacular views. We had a delicious lunch at one of the resorts in the mountain. Issam told us about the famous honey, rosewater and olive oil from the mountains. We later took a tour of Nizwa and saw an old mosque that was built in 1200 and has been refurbished for people to pray in.
Issam was a competent driver and was well versed in Omani history and the geography of the Jabal Akhdar mountains. I would definitely recommend the tour group as we really enjoyed the friendly nature of our guide.

We wanted a tour of Jebel Akhdar, and were fortunate enough to get the services of Ali from Alismaili Travel (Ali also has his own guest houses in Nizwa - The Omani Guest House). Ali spoke good English and was a great source of knowledge about local culture, history, and the locations we visited. He had a couple of stops which highlighted the beautiful views of the Jebel Akhdar area and even provided us with Omani coffee and date sweets. My husband enjoyed the walk down into the abandoned city, while I enjoyed the view from the top - beautiful scenery, birds, and peaceful feelings. We then decided to leave the mountains and continue on into the desert where Ali found a couple of camel herders who were thrilled to extoll how wonderful their camels were and how they take young camels and get them ready for racing. Some of the camels were actually friendly and wanted to be petted! It was a fun end to our day’s tour.
We did not ask to go to any shops, nor did Ali push us in that direction at all, but really seemed desirous of making sure we saw everything that we wanted. It was an enjoyable afternoon, and Ali exceeded our expectations as a tour guide for the day.

Would recommend this company if you are looking for a tour of the local Nizwa area. I received a very professional service from Bassam when visiting the office to book the tour. I had a tour with Ali, a Nizwa local, who had excellent English and is extremely knowledgeable about the local area.

Ali was a fantastic guide. He took us to Jabal Shams and Misfat Al-Abreen and ended the day with a beautiful sunset . Both locations were fantastic and breathtaking. He had a lot of local knowledge and provided us with plenty of stops along the way. Ali even provided us with lots of snacks and food so we never wanted for anything during the day !
Highly recommend for anyone visiting Nizwa that would like to see some amazing sights.

We had a fantastic day travelling to Jabel Shams and the village of Misfat Abrayeen with Ali. An amazing village and breathtaking mountain.
Highly recommended Ali who was a very kind tour guide feeding us the whole way with delicious snacks. Real Omani hospitality and he always waited for the slower members of the group on our walking tour. Ali even brought fresh bread made from home because we were too late to order breakfast. Excellent service who do more than required.

Our tour with Ali was such a lovely experience. The snacks provided was super delicious with amazing tea and coffee. The views was breathtaking and Ali was great at showing all the history of the Misfat Abryaeen.
The Guest house which was recommended was very clean and great location close to the goat market which was also a fun experience.

I was lucky to have tour with this company. Ali came to pick us up on time in the morning and we headed for marvelous day in Aljabal Alkhdar. He is very knowledgable, generous in his time and efforts to make you see and discover every beauty to these places. He offered us a beautiful local snack that he prepared for us including tea and local coffee.

This is a MUST do. Take some more stable hiking shoes and than ... start an amazing walk. It is approximately 7km for both directions with will take 2 hours. At the end there are some very old houses. At the walk you have an amazing view.
