Nestled in the mountains of North Carolina, Blue Ridge Daylilies is a site to behold. This daylily farm offers visitors a plethora of color as far as the eye can see!!

Located 15 minutes from Asheville, N.C. - Blue Ridge Daylies boasts the most beautiful gardens. Sculptures, bird houses and other perennials offer a panoramic view that rivals most botanical gardens.

Each year the owners - Bob and Eric - host visitors 7 days a week during blooming season. Peak bloom is generally around July 4th - so plan your trip accordingly.

We visited Blue Ridge Daylilies on the off season since we were close by on our vacation, but there were still a few daylilies blooming. The rest of the gardens were beautiful and very interesting. Bob and Eric were both there and we got the grand tour and they were both very courteous and informative. I can't wait to back during prime bloom season!

On trip home to Illinois from Charlotte, NC stopped at Blue Ridge Daylilies in Alexander, NC near Asheville, NC. Saw their Facebook site and decided to stop and see what it was. Having been to see lavender farms and the tulips in Holland, MI before I wasn't expecting anything as lovely as this place. Rows and rows and rows of beautiful daylilies on this little farm. They hand you a pricing guide and location folder that is 1/2 an inch thick. Good thing my math teacher husband was with me to figure out the location grid. The flowers are beautiful. From their web site: "Peak bloom is always the 4th of July here in the mountains of western North Carolina. We are open for garden sales from the middle of June until the end of July." They ship on Mondays and we were there to watch this fascinating, low tech, hands on operation as they shipped hundreds of plants. In one corner of the garden we watched a lady in a large sunhat in the hot NC sun mid-day going up and down the rows, pinching off spent blooms. You can take the plants with you or ship them for a fee. They ranged from $15 /''fan'' to $100/''fan''. I have to admit my eyes were bigger than my shovel and muscles and ordered way too many to bring home and ship to my sister. I get the feeling many are hybridized by the owner, Robert Selman, or the assistant, Eric. Join their facebook page or the Daylily Deals of the Day Sales ones to get these on-line. But the premises are lovely, bordered with other plants, there is some cute metal sculptures there, some benches and picnic tables to use to rest or eat if you brought lunch. Would recommend stopping for something different.
