We are into aviation and World War II, so we were lucky to find this Commemorative Air Force outpost in the Texas State Travel Guide book. Troy was so nice to show us around, and tell us the squadron's history and recent renovations since Harvey. He even let us sit In their restored World War II-era biplane. And isn't it cool the squadron is named after a WASP: Maxine Flournoy.
The squadron hosts a pancake breakfast the first Saturday of the month to raise money.

The Maxine Flournoy 3rd Coast Squadron Hangar & Museum is great. Located at the McCampbell-Porter Airport, 3201 FM3512, Aransas Pass, Texas is worth a visit. Defiantly off the beaten path, this home-grown and locally supported WWII museum collects and preserves personal WWII artifacts of veterans. They also offer rides in their N2S Stearman bi-plane.
