Citadelle à voir absolument !

La citadelle est un site tres interessant et impressionant à voir ! Les ruines sont très belles et la vue de la citadelle sur les montagnes rend le lieu unique.
Pour bien commencer la visite, le panneau qui présente la citadelle se trouve de l'autre cote de l'entrée principale (l'entrée a dû changé entre temps).
Il n'y a pas une reconstitution de la citadelle à son époque : à votre imagination !

Interesting Anjar

Anjar, a Roman-Byzantine trading place, is very interesting though not as spectacular as Baalbek. We first visited Anjar before we went to Baalbek and we had a nice stroll through the remains of the old city. It’s definitely worth a visit. Opposite the entrance there’s a souvenir shop where you find many items for a very reasonable price and much better than in the shops around Baalbek. So make sure you do your souvenir shopping there. We booked our excursion at Lebanon Local Tour and their guide Jad was a very experienced driver and guide. This tour company is very reliable and they react always directly through WhatsApp. You can ask them any question concerning your trip to Lebanon. Absolutely the best.

Big surprise...!

It was a big surprise to see those ruins... interesting and beautiful. The visit was worthy. Wear comfortable shoes too. Liked this place. To be visited. The entrance price was almost negligible (1 cent) . Too ok be visited

Direkt an der syrischen Grenze liegt diese Ausgrabungsstätte. Wunderschön, auch wenn sie geschichtlich nur 50-60 Jahre bestand hatte. Absolut sehenswert!

Impressive ruins from 8th century

Quite well preserved ancient ruins layed out in a grid structure. Some smaller parts are still standing, while mainly one can see the layout of the city. Was probably quite impressive in its time. Certainly worth a 45-60 min stroll around the area.

Great history in a now quiet surroundings

We visited Anjar and found this place to be really interesting. We walked around the premises imagining how this place looked hundreds of years ago while it was busy, colourfull and important to a lot of people.

Fatevi una passeggiata nella storia seguendo il cardo e il decumano ammirando così questa deliziosa cittadella di oltre 1300 anni con ancora resti ben conservati

Good Armenian ruins

The Anjar ruins are in the Lebanese city of Anjar. The population of Anjar is exclusively Armenian. The citadel was built in the 8th century by the 2nd Caliphate Umayyad. It costs 8 Lebanese Pounds to enter the ruins and this large complex is well worth a wander around - it is though not as good as the nearby Baalbek Roman Ruins, so if you visit Baalbek first you may be a little disappointed.

Fairly Well Preserved Umayyad Ruins

These Umayyad ruins are still in fairly good shape and give a good idea of the layout of this location hundreds of years ago. A trip to Anjar should include a visit to the Citadel along with lunch at one of their very good restaurants.

Very nice, but better things are right near it

The aanjar ruins are very beautiful, and have great views as well. But, if you're in that area, I would suggest visiting Baalbek (30mins away), lake qararun (1hr away), or zahle (15mins away) which are much more beautiful. But, if you have already been to those places then aanjar is the place for you. Very interesting history and columns and arches everywhere, there is just better things very close to this area
