This was an unforgettable day. Our driver and guide was amazing, and this was definitely one of the highlights of our holiday.

This 8 hour journey began when the bus picked us up at the ship, in Skagway, AK. We were driven to the historic train where we enjoyed a leisurely, beautiful and interesting trip to Fraser, B.C. During the train trip, we learned the history of the railroad and the Klondike Gold Rush. Be sure to sit on the left side of the train when traveling from Skagway to get the best views. Upon arriving in B.C., we boarded a bus to travel to Yukon Territory. The scenery was beautiful and Janzen, our bus driver, kept us engaged and entertained with many stories throughout the trip. We made many photo stops (often in places where other buses don't stop) including the Welcome to Yukon and Alaska signs and Emerald, Tagish and Tutshi Lakes (all stunningly beautiful). Janzen always offered to take pictures of anyone who wanted them (greatly appreciated). We had lunch at Caribou Crossing where we had time to visit the RCMP and taxidermy museums, Yukon Quest husky training centre (you can even interact with the dogs), gift shops and whatnot. We also had a very brief stop in Carcross, YT, a quaint little town complete with a beautiful beach on Bennett Lake, overlooking the mountains. Would have liked a longer stop there to be able to visit the Visitor Centre and the Indigenous People exhibits. The return trip to Skagway via the Klondike Highway gave a very different perspective from the train trip but equally beautiful. I'd highly recommend this trip to anyone who wants a glimpse of beautiful Yukon Territory and into the history of the gold rush.

We booked this excursion months in advance. Arrived at the station in Fraser and then boarded the train. The tourguides spent all their time sucking up to the cruise ship quests on board. We never even had our tickets checked!! The support staff were more interested in selling the souvenir DVD and caps than anything else (except collection of tips). The ride is 27ish miles long and is beautiful. The passenger cars are clean and comfortable. We were told bottled water was provided.(never saw it if it was).
Here is the killer. On arrival in Skagway, USA Customs Official's made a quick pass through the cars and said we free to leave the train. The problem being we were dropped a full miles or more from the station and not given any instruction as to what direction to travel to actually get to the station where our ride was waiting for us to arrive etc. Upon inquiring I was told simply to follow those folks who were heading to cruiseships docks. We were NOT! If you take this trip you on your own apparently, unless you are a cruiseship guest. Sadly disappointed as it could have been a lot more!!

We recently did the White Pass & Yukon rail trip, end found it to be an excellent way to view the place. Beautiful scenery, good commentary on the way, and a delicious meal at the Caribou Crossing Trading Post, which has an excellent Museum, , mush dogs, and friendly helpful staff. We were fed on arrival, with delicious bbq chicken coleslaw and jacket potatos. All round approximately 8 hours return journey, which could be going up by rail, returning by bus, or vice - versa. Strongly recommend this trip.

A great little rail journey up through the mountains to The Yukon. Another must do on my bucket list trip to Alaska and well worth it. Train staff fantastic. We didn’t really have quite enough time at the Yukon bridge, which is small but interesting if wobbly when crossing! Grab a coffee in the shop n walk with it! No time for shop though but did get my passport stamped as legal place for crossing!

The train trip is along the lake shore. Simply stunning views - even though it was a smoky day. Would take this train again. Staff - both White Pass and Parks Canada - very friendly and informative.

We started our journey in Skagway and were dropped off at the train by coach. The carriages were old style which gave it some authenticity, although it was none too warm inside despite a warm stove. The journey was scenic initially following the Skagway river and climbing up into the mountains and thawing frozen waste. Some of the bridges were quite spectacular and impressive.

It's amazing to see where this train goes and what it does it transports passengers who pay a fair price for their ticket guaranteed seats fairly comfortable from A to B past the most beautiful scenery imaginable up a mountain no cogs and teeth mechanism in sight up rails network rail in the U.K. Should come over here take notes and try to get our rail network somewhere as reliable as this
