We had an amazing time in Botswana with Letaka Safaris. We booked a 9 nights group safari starting in Kasane and visiting Savute, Mababe and Moremi (Northern Highlights - Southbound). Because of low season it was only the two of us, so we were lucky to have a private safari.
We met our brilliant guide Vincent at Kasane. After an interesting boat cruise on the Chobe River we drove to our first camp site in Savute. Despite the high temperature due to a heat wave, we arrived secure and had a great Welcome from the Camp Team. The chef Vicks, KJ and Evidence prepared our wonderful tent, a dining area and of course a camp fire.
The tents are equipped with two single beds with all linen and towels and two little tables. En-suite there is a long drop toilet facility and bucket shower. Everything was well maintained.
Our safari vehicle was also well maintained with a fridge in the first row. So it was possible to grab cold drinks at any time. We also got personalized bottles for water. There were also quite a few charging possibilities in the vehicle because there is no electricity in the camp.
Every morning at 5am we got hot water and a light breakfast with cereals and toasts was prepared. After breakfast we went out for our morning game drives. After coming back to the camp we got a lunch and some time to rest. During this break we had the possibility to take a refreshing shower. At 3.30pm there was high tea with self-made cake or cookies before we went on our afternoon game drive. As soon as we came back there was always a delicious dinner with 3 courses and the possibility to sit at the camp fire. On the transit days we skipped lunch in the camp. Instead we had lunch on a nice spot on our way.
Our guide Vincent spotted us all the leading predators like wild dogs, leopard, cheetah, lions and hyena. We also saw a lot of antelopes and due to the time of the year birds. In comparison to the high season the density of sightings was lower, but we were usually on our own or maybe with one other car on the sighting.
The camp sites are directly in the National Parks or in a private concession. So the game drives starts as soon as you are in the vehicle. Unfortunately the animals in the Mababe concession were a little bit shy and there are not that many roads.
But all in all we had a really amazing time. A big thank you again to Vincent, Vicks (a real magician in the bush kitchen), KJ and Evidence for this unforgettable experience!

We had a fantastic 8 night mobile safari with Vincent as our guide and absolutely loved it. Travelling as a family of 6, with 3 kids (aged 8-14) and my mother (aged 78), we did the southbound “northern highlights” tour, starting in Kasane, and visiting Savuti, Mababe and Moremi.
Vincent was a fantastic guide, tailoring the tour, showing us so much wildlife, and entertaining and educating the kids. We saw lots of animals, in particular enjoying many lion and elephant sightings and interactions. We saw over 150 bird species. Each day we enjoyed exploring and having fun. Then we’d return to camp, where Life, KK and Many were looking after us. The food was outstanding. Better than many lodges and cooked from a bush kitchen. The tents were great. Enough space, and comfortable beds. Bucket showers and long drop toilets. Each camp was well positioned in lovely areas. Each night we heard lions and other animals and will never forget this African adventure. Thank you Vincent, Life and Letaka!!

I was on a camping safari organised by my go to Birdwatching company based in Nethy Bridge, Northern Scotland.
They had obviously done there research well because Letaka Safaris gave me the most amazing, life changing and emotionally moving experiences of my life.
We first met our two guides at Maun, Botswana airport. Bogs were loaded onto the roof of the safari wagons and off we went. This was my first trip to the African continent and I intended to soak up every experience that I had. The tarmac of Maun soon gave way to the usual dirt roads of the Game reserves and their surrounding areas.
New and colourful birds abounded, sights sounds and the heat we're all making a very big and pleasant impact on me and this was to continue throughout the whole two weeks with the guys from Letaka.
The guides, Lucas & Vincent, were not only knowledgeable but both had a fantastic sense of humour and were an absolute delight to be with at all times. The camp guys were amazing too and worked so hard looking after us all.
The tents were spacious and comfortable, by camping standards. Bucket showers & longdrop toilets added to the experience.
If your a 4* hotel and hairdryer type traveller you may struggle on this type of holiday.
For me, I loved every second of it, and had some amazing encounters with both stunning birds and majestic wildlife.
The days are long, up at 5am, breakfast in the African early light. Out on safari by 6. Back to camp by 11.30 for brunch and three hours down time to sleep, shower or just relax out of the intense midday heat. Back out at 4pm till sundown returning to a camp fire and evening meal. Usually buzzing from the days encounters with Botswanas stunning flora & fauna. The wagons have charging points for all your battery powered cameras torches etc plus they have a big fridge full of ice cold drinks that help ease the 41°C daytime heat.
Nothing was too much trouble for all the staff at Letaka Safaris. If they could accommodate your request, however off the wall, they would.
I was sad to leave Botswana, a beautiful country, blessed with excellent game reserves, stunning birds & wildlife with amazing happy people.
If your in the market for a camping safari, and in my opinion, it is the best way to experience such a trip. Then Letaka Safaris will not let you down.

I loved every single moment of the tented camp safari “Northern Highlights” with Letaka Safaris. I can confirm what other travellers have been writing, so I won’t repeat all the details here. The scenery of the three locations was beautiful and wild. We camped in the midst of nature and got spoiled by KK the cook (amazing food, vegetarian options available and great) and the approachable and very kind camp assistants (Elliott and Disang). As a guest your only job really is to spot animals, ask a lot of questions and enjoy. Our guide Vincent was very knowledgeable, accommodating and had the best sense of humour. We learned a lot about the animals, vegetation and also the people in Botswana. Extensive game drives twice a day with lots of sightings. The tents were spacious and clean, with the bucket shower and long drop toilet completing the wilderness experience :-) Travelling in a small group for 10 days allowed for a very personal experience. The last two weeks of October were extremely hot, over 40 degrees during the day, and very warm nights, which was quite draining at times. Something to be considered when planning a trip.
I highly recommend Letaka Safaris and would definitely book this trip and this crew again!

Wow! This is what Africa is all about. My second time to Africa after a packaged safari in lodges in Tanzania 6 years ago. We decided on the traveling camping safari with Letaka . Camping in Chobe, Mababe and Moremi across Norther Botswana. This is raw and wild Botswana at its best. To hear a pride of lions kill a small elephant overnite, to hear hyenas drinking out of out of our wash bin, to see 300-400 elephants along the river Kwai in Mababe was unreal.. Vincent our guide was the best! A birder and knowledgeable guide and is he ever funny! This trip was one I will never forget. KK our chef was amazing! October/November is hot and dry and we might recommend May, June, July, August. We did this in October because of another trip in Tanzania was scheduled. Letaka is top notch and highly recommend. Highly recommend Vincent as a guide..

Recently did Letaka's 9 night camping safari in Botswana. We've been on safari before, in lodges, but this was definitely the best experience. There was so much wildlife, especially the elephants and lions and our guide, Vincent, was excellent. He had a good crew too - cook and two helpers for our group of 6. It was simply amazing from start to finish.

What an awesome time we had on a mobile safari with letaka travel in Botswana. Our guide Lucas was so knowledgeable about everything we saw on the 9 day trip. His friendly nature made it even better and we had many laughs during our time. But the main event was tracking the animals which Lucas was brilliant at. We saw everything during our trip and it's all thanks to him. In camp, we had 3 guys taking care of everything for us. The food was fantastic and the guys were great and happy to help us with anything we needed. I can't recommend letaka travel highly enough.

My old friend and I had the privilege to experience an unbelievably smooth and enriched 10 day safari with Vincent our guide and the marvellous crew. Too many animals to count, too many “firsts” that were seen, heard, smelt and felt. Intense beauty with botswana’s best nature on show for us.
Exemplary driving and camp comforts.
Outrageously good food. Thanks++ Kk!
A once in a lifetime experience. Awesome memories. Pristine. Magestic. Unbeatable.

I could not recommend Letaka Safari’s enough. This was my first solo trip ever as I booked direct the booking process was very good and any questions I had were answered promptly and with out hesitation no matter what it was. When I was on Safari our guide was so welcoming knowledgeable and his expertise was out of this world. We was very lucky to see so many animals and even some very rare sitings. The camp staff were very attentive and friendly. If anyone asked I would 100% recommend letaka for a safari experience and even as a solo travel you will be well looked after. I will certainly be back and only be booking with letaka
