Spent a beautiful fall day hiking in this park as well as in a few surrounding areas of Deep Creek. Heads up- make sure you dress appropriately with either hiking boots, sneakers etc. The areas surrounding the waterfalls are usually wet and muddy. You can also navigate the creek and surrounding beds of the waterfalls. There is an entrance fee to get in and it is a short hiking distance that has well marked and developed paths.

This is a great park. It has maintained trails if you have a group that needs a level walking surface. For the more adventurous, take the trail from one falls to the next right along the river.

What a beautiful State Park! Muddy Creek Falls is Maryland’s highest free-falling waterfall. This particular waterfall was a short walk from the parking lot, that meandered through some old-growth hemlock trees. You could walk close to the waterfall and hear its deafening roar from above the falls or walk the steps down for a close-up view. We only walked to the first of four waterfalls in the park. A peaceful walk through the trees with a canopy that shaded the hikers on their walks to each of the waterfalls. We met Alina, a Park Ranger, that was very informative and enlightened us some of the facts about the park. It was nice to walk and view nature at her finest.

Beautiful falls, short hike to the falls. Signage inside park leaves a lot to be desired. Ask fellow tourists for directions

Absolutely beautiful! The park and trails are well maintained. The hike is easy and the waterfalls and scenery are stunning! One of the best parks we have ever visited.

This is a must visit in Western Maryland. The trails are easy and the views are great. There are 4 main falls to check out and well worth the walk to get there.

We were on motorcycles, suggest you go past the main parking a bit to some easier parking for bikes. The main lot is congested. The walk to the falls was short and easy, and gorgeous. The roads in and out of the park were nicely paved and the countryside spectacular.

So much natural beauty for so little work. The hike is super easy and to see 4 beautiful water falls so close to each other was amazing.

It was nice. Walk to the falls was not far or difficult. There was not much water but Muddy Creek Falls was nice Swallow Falls was ok, Tolliver Falls was a little trickle. Recommend getting their early (less people)

A pleasant hour visiting the falls. We came in late August so there wasn't too much water in the river and the falls didn't look that dramatic.
The trail can be slippery in places and it's a slight climb back up so don't bring elderly or infirm people here.9

Is the park still open for hiking with everything going on with Covid19? I want to drive up for a hike, I am 2.5 hours away so I want to make sure it's open before I come.

How far of a walk is it to the Falls? My mother in law does walk very well but we would like her to see them.

I did notice that there were handicapped parking spaces near the falls (50 yards?). I would call them to make sure. Unfortunately she’d only be able to see the one (the biggest one). The walk to the rest of it it pretty rough for someone who doesn’t get around too easily.

Planning on visiting Swallow Falls in the near future and I always get a little nervous when my husband doesn’t join me on the hikes with the kids, so I have a silly question...while this sounds like a relatively easy hike, is there an obvious spot where we would turn around or does it loop us back around relatively close to where we started? Thanks!!

As far as I know it loops around, but it didn’t take too long. We had a group of 9 adults and 6 kids ranging 8 to 15. We all made it through even with the kids running way ahead of us.

If you want to go to a few parks, its worth it to get the weekly pass, so you can go to the beach and a few other parks in the area . If you go 2x it pays for itself
