Really nice short easy walk-on an elevated boardwalk. It’s just in back of the visitors center. Will
Take you along the lake front.

A nice short walk on a perfect boardwalk, after you’ve had your lunch in Orr. Easy to find, right behind the Visitor Center. Variety of plants, a dragonfly and the Pelican River. Must make time for this little stop. It’s only a half-mile long. And a chance to get into the woods, out in nature. Perfect stop if you need to stretch your legs and breathe fresh air. Interpretive signs along the bog walk. Maybe early morning or evening would have more wildlife.

The BRAND NEW Orr Bog Walk is now open, and it's great! The old one was entirely replaced, but follows the same path as the original. It's smooth, solid, beautiful, and wheelchair accessible, with numerous pullover spots on the 4-foot sections - main entry up to the loop junction is six feet wide. View several types of habitat along the trail, with nice views along the floating sections on the river. The old walk had certainly seen its better days, but now it's all set to go for another 30 years! Makes for a nice day trip to do the bog walk in the afternoon and then go over to the Vince Shute Wildlife Sanctuary to see the black bears (opens at 5 p.m. - evening viewing hours only, open between Memorial Day and Labor Day)

This is short walk from the visitor's center. It is a bit "springy" in spots, but keeps your feet dry. It looks like it could use a bit of care, but still okay. They have plants labeled and tells you something about it.
WE saw a couple of ducks but nothing much else. It is still a nice walk and I'd say it is about 3/4 of a mile.
With it being fall we did not expect to see any birds, but we enjoyed the setting sun during the walk. If you are there - go do it.

Something different to see. The board walk was nice. Lots of nature to see. The boardwalk could use some maintenance and cleanup.

Not much to do in this area except to slow down and relax. The Bog Walk is right behind the combo visitor center/ town hall. Good local information and a few interesting exhibits inside. The walk itself is no more than a mile round trip and completely safe. A bit buggy but no more so than the rest of northern Minnesota. There is a brochure to help guide but I wish it would have been a little better coordinated with the signs. And, as with most nature walks, there are seldom signs just at the places you want them to be. Even so, I enjoyed the walk, learned some things, and am glad it is there. At the turn around point there is a view to the south end of Pelican Lake which is covered in water lilies and wild rice. A lovely place to sit and enjoy.

Pretty walk thru the bog. Be careful when the boardwalk is wet. It's very slippery and the boardwalk itself could use some shoring up in places.

We attempted to do the walk after a rain storm in the evening. We made it about 200 yards in - and had to turn back as the boards are like ice. My wife (an avid hiker/rock scrambler/snowshoer) actually could not get ANY traction on the sloping boards.

A beautiful walk through the bog - my sons LOVED it! September was a great time to go because they weren't any mosquitoes. The dock was a little rocky in some places but we were still able to use our stroller for the baby.

Short walk, easy walk, but a gorgeous variety of plants, trees, flowering things and a cool view of the river. Really an awesome easy thing to do.
