This is a great .03 of a mile each way stop. There are stairs, I meant to count them, so this is a guess. There is around 125 stone steps each way. There are handrails in some areas. A couple of lookout areas as well. Cross under the road in the short tunnel to access the path. This was a beautiful big fall!!

The trek the falls is full of stones downward but worth it when you get there. Those of us with weak ankles or knees need trekking poles or someone to hold on to for getting down and up from those steps. I made it only to the top of the falls and waited for my husband to trek down to the bottom of the falls. We saw families getting into the water at the top of the falls. The place is picturesque and enjoyable. Waiting for a parking space is worth it.

Beautiful waterfall and not a super tough walk, just a lot of steps. Great photo op. Liked it better than Jackson Falls because the walk was easier and the results were better.

I stopped at Glen Ellis Falls for a short hike during my day in the White Mountains. Parking is limited at this location but I was able to find a spot. Unless there is a long line, it seems to cycle through pretty fast. The waterfall is totally worth the visit! Even during the dry spell that was ongoing during my visit, the waterfall was flowing strong and was beautiful. The gorge was a welcome respite from the summer heat thanks to the cool waters. The downside is the trail is made up of many stairs. You start at the top of the falls and climb down to the bottom. The trail back is a moderately strenuous stair climb back up. The climb is totally worth it, but I recommend not climbing down unless you’re prepared to climb 75-100 steps back up.

Breathtaking scenic views from several levels. Many steps to go down and RETURN UP! Not a trek for anyone with weak knees but so worth the view! Bustling, clear water with amazing rock terrain. Too beautiful for words!

I have done this many times. Always beautiful. Only a short distance to walk, however be aware numerous stone steps. Something you don't want to miss. Absolutely beautiful views from the top of the falls to the bottom

These falls check all the boxes--beautiful views with minimal effort! After parking nearby, it's only a short walk under the highway to the path that immediately reveals the falls. Travel down the stairs to the bottom of the falls and you'll be rewarded with even better views and a cool spray of water. As we hiked down on a 90 degree day, this was an added bonus. Definitely worth stopping for Glen Ellis Falls.

Visited the falls on Oct. 31, 2021…. WOW , felt like I was at Niagara Falls at the bottom. So much water and mist with wind, almost got soaked.. but what a view from top or bottom. Fresh clean air can’t be beat. The posted pictures don’t show the rush of water that I saw. Anybody living in New England could take a week end trip and do some site seeing, it’s free.

The falls are worth seeing, even though it's a trek to get to them. Climbed a lot of stairs both ways. There are a couple of informative plaques onsite. Views were magnificent.

Glen Ellis Falls is a stunning 70-foot waterfall into a beautiful green pool. We made the short hike to the falls with our dog. It is very beautiful and photogenic. Definitely worth a stop if visiting the area. Trailhead is less than a mile south of Pinkham Notch Visitor Center. It's usually pretty crowded, but worth the stop.

Was there anything interesting? Was there good snacks? Or any at all?

There are no shops or any.other establishment in the area. It is just falls. If you want to spend more time, it is better to take some snacks. You can eat there sitting on one of the rocks overlooking falls.
What does it cost to park at Glen Ellis falls? Is it open Oct 28, 2019

We had tried to visit here a couple times and it seems the entry area from the GPS is always closed and it looked like the entry sign was down. Is there a different way to get in there? My GPS may be misleading us.

Apologies, I’ve only just seen your question. Hopefully you’ve got the answers to help you find it. We had a sat Nav that helped us but we still sailed past the sign!

We are coming to Mt Washington next month and want to visit some local state parks as well. My question is I had Knee surgery a few months back. Is the trail very difficult to the falls, or is it very steep. I am not suppose to do any heavy hiking until after my next surgery. Thank you.

if you can walk up step stairs you will be fine....my wife has a slipped disk and she was able to go up and down with very little discomfort. I would just stop a few times on the way back up and you should be good....hope this helps

Can you get into the pool in order to swim at the falls?

when we were there, i did not see folks in the water. i do think you can enter the water at places. the falls are great looking. we had our dog with us so we were concentrating on his safety . the path and stairs are steep, gives you a good stretch.
enjoy the falls. it is a pretty setting.

Have they stopped people from jumping off the falls and into the pool below? Used to be very scary to see.

Nobody was jumping and it is very risky. Few people were swimming in the pool.

this particular falls has a strong flow-really beautiful throughout the year!
Are the falls open year round? We are trying to find something to do while on vacation now. But a lot of things are closed.

The website says it's open from late may til late october. I would call the ranger station: 603-536-6100 and ask since it has been til now unseasonably warm.
Does anyone know the address to this waterfall? Im visiting story land in jackson and like to go to this waterfall too

The parking area has an "honors box" for parking. Bring cash.
