What a lovely small museum!
ene. de 2021
At first we thought it was an old church, but it was a former library. We visited on a bitterly cold day in January and had the museum all to ourselves. The stained glass windows are a treat themselves. Be sure to read the inspirational quotes that each window has. Allow yourself about an hour or so to see and read everything on exhibit. Madison is a nice town that has a main street with lots of shops and restaurants so you can easily make an afternoon of it.

Interesting museum
sep. de 2019
We really enjoyed the exhibits. They were well laid out and clearly described. Don’t forget to check out the building itself. The stained glass windows and ornately carved woodwork is worth a visit itself.

Great small museum. Excellent artifacts of the pre industrial era
jul. de 2019 • Solitario
This is a small museum in a beautiful building that was originally a library. The building itself is worth seeing as an example of late victorian architecture. The artifacts are well displayed and even better, they are given a full explanation and context.

Fun for kids
abr. de 2018
Went there about a year ago when looking for something to do for children. They had a very nice, educational, well organized event based on building traps to capture Leprechauns. While we didn't capture one, we did have fun.

Fun little museum
nov. de 2018 • Pareja
I've been driving and walking past this place for years and finally found a rainy afternoon to walk in and check it out fully. In a small space that was originally a library, they have loads of antique tools and home implements with (mostly) helpful and interesting signage explaining how things were used or what they represent.
While I can always spend more time in a museum, we were limited to an hour given the impending closing time, and that was a reasonable period to see most of the displays and get a sense of everything.

Something for the kids

Not just for the kids but the adults were super interested in the history that was availed. Small and can be viewed in the interest span for the kids

Built in 1899. The charm is in full bloom.

I do not know why this experience is currently listed as # 2 in Madison. It is #1. The building itself is fascinating. Each stained glass window has literary quotes from its Library days beginning in 1899. The second floor walkways are still the same see through glass walkways from 1899. The hearth in the entry room has the original literary inscription.
After Madison built a new much larger Library, the Lane family preserved the Library in the form of a Museum of Early Trades and Crafts. Which is totally appropriate. Take the hour or so to walk through. PLEASE donate for the upkeep. Take a FREE poster of Madison in 1840. My 13 year old son loved it. Alleluia

Beautiful Local Museum
jun. de 2018 • Amigos
This former library has been turned into a wonderful museum. It is worth a visit if only for the structure alone. The exhibits are very kid friendly and programs are well received. It is a wonderful neighbor for the Madison community.

Step back in time and enjoy this architectural wonder. Many interesting articles within and many programs for the younger visitors as well.
