A bucket list experience!
feb. de 2020
Quite a pleasant and scenic boat trip on the initial stretches of the Victoria Nile. For many - it can be a checklist item! Reasonable birding opportunities as well.
The trip takes you to a particular location where Lake Victoria ends and the Nile is supposed to begin. At this particular point, there is a underwater stream - which apparently contributes 30% of the river's volume at this point. Hence, the origin of the Nile is taken as this particular point.
You can opt for a guide to help you - but there is no much use of the same. Just hiring the boat (in a group) should suffice. The Rippon's happy bar hotel just at the source is quite charming. Nice souvenirs also available - pricey - but maybe worth it. Having a drink at the source may be talking point!

A surprise is the Gandhi Monument at the start of the journey. Apparently, Mahatma Gandhi wanted his ashes to be immersed in the major rivers of the world and the Nile (at this place) was where some of his ashes were immersed in 1948.

Note: Though popularly accepted as the Source of the Nile, Jinja may not actually be the source. Nyungwe Forest in Rwanda most probably has better rights to claim the title.

Waters Edge wildlife

The wildlife around the Nile here is fascinating with many species of birds. You can engage one of the boat trips and a guide which is advisable stopping off at the source of the Nile. A pleasurable way to spend a morning/afternoon

The River and the Lake marriage
sep. de 2018
The mighty Lake Victoria was thought for a long time to be the source of the Nile. It is in a sense. Waters from the large lake leave by the Victoria Nile to head north to join the Albert Nile in northern Uganda. When the water leaves the massive Lake Victoria, it does so in a spectacular fashion. The water pours out of the lake at the Ripon Falls, also known as Owen Falls Dam, in Uganda. It then goes by the Victoria Nile to Lake Kyoga before joining the Albert Nile. The lake itself is shared by three countries: Uganda, Tanzania, and Kenya. The headwaters for the streams that feed the lake, however, originate from the mountains of Rwanda and Burundi. its a spectacular breathtaking view.

“Stunning experience” - source of victoria/ white nile.
jun. de 2019 • Amigos
The Victoria Nile starts at the outlet of Lake Victoria, at Jinja, Uganda, on the northern shore of the lake. I visited the source by a boat. Apart from the entry charges..the boat costed 30 💵. Worth every penny, its a marvel in itself as to how the world’s largest river originates from this location. Looks like boiling water at the edge of the massive lake victoria. The boat was managed by a lady who was extremely knowledgeable and keeps telling u abt the geographical and historical aspects of the place. The flora and fauna on the shores is amazing. Must visit for all. As you move south along the white nile there are number of options for water sports which incl, water bungee jumping and white water river rafting. Highly recommended when in 🇺🇬. Cheers 🍻

Amazing boat ride to the source of Nile

Loved this place. We did have to wait for a while for a boat, but overall, we were happy with the boat guide, he explained everything to you very nicely. Also the view was very rustic. One can see a lot of flora and fauna on the way to the source of Nile. Must see place.

Sun set cruise along Nile River to Lake Victoria from Jinja
abr. de 2017 • Familia
We took the cruise in December 2016 along Nile River from Jinja. The boat finally bring us to Lake Victoria which is the beginning of Nile River. We manage to see many wild life and birds along the cruise. We saw Pied kingfisher, Red tailed Monkey, African Woolen Kingfisher, Giant Kingfisher, Open bill Stork, Pelican, Egret, African Darter, African Fish Eagle, Comarand, Marabou Stork and many others. Lake Victoria borders kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. We can see a fishing village and fishing boats in Lake Victoria. There is a landmark at where Nile river connects to Lake Victoria, showing the zero chainage of Nile River. We have a nice sun set view in Lake Victoria. The whole journey took less than 2 hours. It is very enjoyable to cruise along the river, seeing many birds while observing people living at the river bank.

Once in the Pearl of Africa, spare a day or 02 visit Jinja with seemingly one Attraction (The Nile) from here say but while here adventure seekers expect a treat of Bungee Jumping, Rafting and kayaking, as well as boat trips to the source of the world's longest River. You need to carry your self a good camera to pick some stunning shots and if you travel here anytime of the year enjoyment is granteed
