I have been to Courthouse falls many of times. The photo that you have is not of Courthouse Falls and the road is closed as of 01/07/2022 making it a long hike in. I have posted a actual photo of Courthouse Falls.

The road was closed to get there. We tried to go later in the day, so we didn’t have time to park and hike 3 miles to where you would park to do the short hike. Posting so others know. I’m not sure why the road is closed.

This place was off the beaten path so be prepared for a bit of bumpy ride once you get off the main road. However, we went on a weekday morning and did not see another person the whole time. Park just past the 4th bridge about 3 miles in. The hike to the falls is not bad and manageable for most ages. We really enjoyed the beautiful falls and would recommend.

Please come to Western North Carolina for a hundred breathtaking sights and scenery. There are more waterfalls here than anywhere in the world.

They are a short walk from the road. Gets a little steep on the second half of the hike, but we did it with a 10 and 13 year old and I’m out of shape. Wish we had brought water shoes and swimming suits. Looked like a great place to swim. Make sure you look at directions from one of the previous reviews. Don’t get discouraged by one lane dirt road. It’s bumpy but falls are worth it. We did it in a mini van.

I have visited this beautiful waterfall with the pool at its base quite a few times. The trail is flat and a short easy hike. Be sure as you leave the main trail and start downhill to Courthouse Falls you will see Cody Falls just off to your right. enough people have gone down the bank to make a faint trail to the base. Watch out for the beautiful green moss.

If you are wondering if you can do this...We drove the 3 miles off the main road. It was bumpy but we did it in a Ford Focus. After 3 miles, we parked just over the bridge and followed the trail which was well marked and worn. It was a 3rd of a mile. The first portion was fairly flat. The last portion was moderately steep but doable (for reference I am almost 6 months pregnant - but look more like 8 months and my husband was carrying our 21 month old daughter). A large tree has fallen across the path at the bottom, right at the falls. There were others there. My daughter got to splash around on the edge of the swimming hole. There were older kids there jumping in from rocks on the sides and dogs swimming around in the water. It was really nice. I would recommend giving it a try.

Short hike from main road to get to falls, it can get a little steep in spots but so very worth it. This is a beautiful location to sit down and just take it all in. Our family loved visiting this waterfall.

Courthouse Falls is a very scenic 45-foot waterfall in Pisgah National Forest near Balsam Grove. The hike to the falls is an easy half-mile round trip, but it's much less well-known than other forest waterfalls. To get here, drive north on NC-215 from US-64 near Rosman for 10.5 miles and turn right on Forest Road 140. Go 3 miles and there's a pull-off on the right just after the bridge over Courthouse Creek (it's the third bridge on the road). From the pull-off, hike back towards the bridge and pick up the trail that runs downstream along Courthouse Creek. This is both the orange-blazed Courthouse Falls Trail (#130) and blue-blazed Summey Cove Trail (#129). Soon you should hear the waterfall and then come to a split - pay attention to the blazes. Summey Cove Trail goes right and Courthouse Falls Trail cuts sharply to the left. Follow the short trail down to the waterfall. At the end, there are some wooden stairs leading to the base of the waterfall. We visited in winter when ice had built up around the falls and it was really beautiful!

For the more adventurous, there are two additional waterfalls upstream on Courthouse Creek. Drive or hike on FSR 140 to the gate and then continue hiking down the forest road. Note that FSR 140B goes left here, don't take it. The road ends about 0.7 miles past the gate at Middle Waterfall on Courthouse Creek. You have to cross the creek to the island to get a good view of this waterfall. If you take the steep path straight ahead, it leads to an upper portion of this waterfall. The path to the left that climbs steeply up the ridge is the trail to Upper Waterfall on Courthouse Creek. After going up, the trail follows Courthouse Creek upstream, eventually reaching Devil's Courthouse on Blue Ridge Parkway. The trail is not maintained or blazed and gets little foot traffic, so it can be hard to follow. You'll need to cross the creek two times and you'll reach a point where two forks flow together. Cross the creek again here and follow the right fork up on the right side. Cross one more time so you're on the left side of the creek and it's only about 0.1 miles to the Upper Falls.

Get directions from someone who knows how to get here. The dirt road might discourage some, but the falls are beautiful and worth the drive. I like that this spot is not on the "tourist" agenda, so it is usually quiet and peaceful!
