I'm so fascinate with glass blowing that I added this to my list to see while in Asheville. This is a small studio in Weaverville. The pieces made here are beautiful and artistic. This was a fun stop.

My wife and I are always looking for the unique and preferably individually owned businesses. We found a treasure when we found Crucible Glassworks. Owned and operated by husband and wife, the Hatches, the workshop and showroom are housed together which allows the customer to watch the glassmaking process. It's an open invitation to just sit and watch. The customer service is remarkable and friendly. We could not leave without a piece for our collection of glass. GO!!

What a delightful visit with a talented artist. His artistry with glass was amazing. His glass shop though small carried a delightful variety of well-crafted glass. Both Michael and his wife we delightful to speak to and we felt immediately like old friends. A great stop with a local artist in Weaverville.

If you happen to head up to Weaverville, stop by the glassworks. This is a lovely small shop with the glassmaking in the back half. The owners Mike and Hilary are very friendly. We stopped by on a slow day in May and had the opportunity to watch Mike make a bowl from the very beginning. We asked if we could buy it as it would make a great memory. We came back the next week to pick it up and it is a lovely gold and turquoise bowl. It was a great visit both times and a wonderful way to lean about glassmaking.

While staying in Weaverville for a week, we wanted to do everything there was to do in Weaverville. We walked the two blocks downtown where the gift shops were located and had lunch(another review) Then decided to go find Crucible Glassworks. Having read reviews, we were excited to go and see the art glass. Hillary was wonderful, such an interesting lady, we loved hearing the story and history of Crucible.
Crucible has a fabulous display and selection of very unique one-of-a-kind blown art glass. Along with classic bowls, vases, balls and trays, you will find “totem pole” and pitchers with characters faces. The displays are so vibrant and colorful, all set with a white background, the pieces just POPPED!! I purchased a few small pieces and could have bought more, if I wasn’t in the minimizing frame of mind(so I can travel more!)
Unfortunately we did not get to see any art-glass being made, but we did get to meet the Mike the artist.

We happened on Crucible Glassworks while touring the backroads. We love glass art and had nowhere to be so we stopped in. What a pleasant surprise! The gentleman was starting a piece and allowed us to watch and photograph pretty closely. He was blowing a piece with several colors and built up the mass by adding clear glass. It looked like he was blowing a ball or vase but when he added the final touched it was a beautiful bowl with a wavy edge. It is a great place to stop if you are looking for a unique locally crafted gift and an even better place to hang out and watch a true artist!

Visited with 3 children and got great demo by artist/owner Mike Hatch. Co owner Hilary Hatch welcomed us to the gallery side and aided us with our purchase of beautiful seasonal glass items.
Would recommend to any and all - this place is a must see!

We were referred to this studio by a friend. Purchased three beautiful hand blown plates to hang on our bedroom wall, and a commissioned glass bowl to be used in our church. The artist is friendly, explains the glass blowing techniques, and lets you see his glass blowing work area.

I have passed Crucible a number of times going towards downtown. Decided to take a look and see their style and their quality and selection. I was impressed with Mike's uniques designs and desire to create a spectrum of ideas. He does one offs and custom work and I was impressed and bought a small piece. Will return.
