As for all of Northumberland, this is a fabulous place for a hike, ,to take photos or just hang out. The views of the ocean and Dumbarton castle are amazing. Lots of lovely birds as well.

First time in Northumberland, we are staying in seahouses, a lovely seaside town. There are boats to the farne islands, several pubs and restaurants and lovely coastal walks, we love it. We have been lucky with the weather but not so much for families to do if it rains. We would recommend it

We took a sunset walk on the beach between seahouses & bamburgh. Hardly any people on the stunning sandy beach. We took a walk back through the dunes on the coastal path at twilight and were stunned to see some roe deer there. The views include the farne islands, lindisfarne & bamburgh castle and were jaw-droppingly beautiful

The reason for our trip to Seahouses was to visit the Farne Islands and see the incredible bird life, especially puffins and seals. We were unable to land due to bird flu but instead took an excellent, very well informed 2-l/2 hour boat trip with Serenity Tours. Birds only there April to end June - Breeding season before going out to sea. Seahouses is a lovely little fishing village very well equipped with a Co-Op, petrol station, pubs, souvenir shops, fish/chip,etc shops and other eating places. On arrival we sat and ate our fish/chips in the sunshine overlooking the harbour. We rented a 2 bedroom immaculate and exceptionally well provisioned cottage, very quiet although only 10 minutes walk from the town/harbour. The children (aged 4 and 6) loved the beautiful sandy beaches, explored the rock pools, swam in the sea and played in sand dunes. Bamburgh Castle was very well worth a visit and where we spent a morning. People all very friendly and welcoming. Very very highly recommended, dogs also loving to exercise on the beach and we saw no litter or dog pooh anywhere!!

On a three night break in Berwick upon Tweed, we visited the beautiful Northumbria Coast. After stopping off at Banburgh, for two hours or so, we caught the bus to Seahouses, which only took 12mins, getting off at King St. We walked towards the small town centre, where there are shops/restaurants/pubs etc. The harbour area is the place to be, this is where the sightseeing boats take people to visit the Farne Islands, to view the seals and sea birds. Well worth the trip. Make sure to take your camera/binoculars. From Seahouses harbour, you can see in the distance, Bamburgh Castle and Lindisfarne, on a clear day! Our visit here was well worth it. It's an Ideal place for everyone to be.

Can you get down on to the beach from Seahouses centre/harbour? is it far?

It’s a really short walk to the beach & the harbour from Seahouses centre. For the beach simply head on the footpath out of the centre towards Bamburgh and cut down the dunes path to the beach and walk for miles, if you want. 5-10 mins walk max. Or you could walk down the Main Street, grab F&C at Pinnacles and carry on past the Olde Ship Inn & Bamburgh Castle Hotel to sit on the seats overlooking the harbour and enjoy. Or vice versa and call in at the Olde Ship. The harbour is small but very picturesque with easy walking along the pier & maybe check out the RNLI centre. Also boat trips & bookings from the harbour. We often walk the beach from Bamburgh to Seahouses and enjoy F&Cs followed by a Coxon’s waffle cone. Your choice, any combination. There’s also some really good restaurants. Whilst you’re in the area check out the Apple Inn or the Apple Core at Lucker, the Potted Lobster or Mizen Head at Bamburgh or the White Swan at Warenford. Have a great time.
How much are the tickets. Where do i pick them up. Thank you

The coastline & the areas designated as outstanding natural beauty are free. Bring a decent pair of boots, a coat and just get out there. The paths are well marked and just go for it. Alnwick Garden tickets online, Boat trips from Seahouses again online search possibly Billy Shields, Bamburgh Castle, all the towns & villages are free. Check out Alnmouth, Holy Island, Craster, Dunstanburgh, Newton by the Sea, Longhoughton sands. Warkworth, Amble etc or head inland a bit. Northumberland is beautiful & varied however you want it & there’s some amazing cafes & restaurants if that’s your thing. Explore & enjoy.
Apart from the farne islands can you see puffins anywhere else in the seahouses area.

Hello, I want to find a great (and fairly quiet) campsite in Northumberland (the more dramatic the views, the better). Never been to that part of the country so all recommendations welcome! Near a dog-friendly pub would be a bonus but definately easy access to cliff/coastal walks. I want to avoid the sort of sites with clubhouses/entertainment provided. Thank you in advance to anyone who can point me in the right direction :) Kelly

Hi all
I'm really struggling to decide whether to stay at the Victoria Hotel in Bamburgh, or The Castle Inn in Seahouses. This is our first trip to Northumberland, so I don't know very much about either location. We will be taking a dog with us, so need to be near a beach. I'm also taking a husband, so need to be near a few pubs too! Please can anyone recommend which location/hotel would be better.
Huge thanks!
