We booked via Tripadvisor as I had searched for History tours in the Bamburgh area that we were staying. Mick at Villages in Time came straight back to me and we booked in for the 2 hour Bamburgh Tour. We met at 11am at The benches in front of St Aidans church in Bamburgh, opposite Grace Darling Museum, he was the man yellow hat. We were the only 2 people on the tour. We started in The Graveyard, moving into The Church. So much history just in this one area! We walked at a casual pace, but covered a huge amount of History. You realise very quickly how important this area was, not only in relation to The Christian faith, but strategically as a Northern stronghold for hundreds of years. Mick brings the history to life. He carries old maps and photographs, answering all our questions and tells of the family histories, the struggles, the wars and he points out the evidence in the lovely village of Bamburgh that you see today.
We highly recommend Mick and his tour. For us, it was just under 3 hours, lots to learn!
