Absolutely amazing visit with an 11 yr old who positively changed his mind over the existence of Father Christmas due entirely to the incredible staff and surroundings and the fantastic big man himself - so realistic and convincing surely he has to be the real deal!!!

This place was amazing . The caves are decorated so lovely , enhanced by the beautiful music. We loved and if you have children it’s a must see Christmas visit. Santa too !! Had a walk round the Christmas craft stalls followed by a nice hot chocolate . Recommend a visit for sure

This morning was about embracing my inner child at Carnglaze Caverns. It was a cold and frosty morning, but it only added to the magic of the place. The icicles adorning the cliffface outside were natures addition to the festive spirit of the place. Stepping into the Winter Wonderland, what a magical experience descending the steps with little glimpses of what's to come. Finishing with the underground lake bathed with dancing stars. Father Christmas was also there making an appearance in his cosy little house. My kids are all grown now, but you see the look of wonder on the children's facies as they step into something new. There is a wonderful Christmas market with some beautiful handmade items if you are looking for a special gift this Christmas. If you really want a festive change, it's well worth a visit. Well done to the Carnglaze team.

Carnglaze winter wonderland, wow if you haven't been, go, if you are looking for a magical Christmas experience, book it up,absolutely amazing. The whole experience, from exploring the cave, soaking up the magical feeling, expertly put together, by a a wonderful family, who we chatted to aftwards over a very nice hot spiced rum. This will be our Christmas go to spot, 100%.

A good way to pass a couple of hours.
The pools make for some lovely photos and it was interesting to learn that the water is continuously pumped and used on site.
Liked the mineral display but needs better lighting.
Fairy gardens were a bit wet and muddy but it was October. Remember to get a ribbon.
Decent little cafe and shop but a bit pricey.

The Carnglaze Caverns are simply beautiful. Once man-made caverns for a slate mine, the site is now used as a venue for all sorts of events from weddings to music concerts.
This is a self-walk tour and you have as much time to walk around as you want. You start at the cavern gift shop where you are given a safety talk and general advice about what to expect inside the caverns. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and do make the safety talk as fun as they can. Each visitor is provided with a safety hat, and you're left to wander off toward the caves, which are only a minute of so away.
Once inside the cave, you enter the main venue area, which includes a bar, seating area, and plenty of room for chairs to be put out, depending on the event. There is a stage at the very back of this part of the cave, and it generally has a really cool vibe to it all, with colour lighting etc. I imagine weddings, music concerts and other events are quite something here.
There is a gentle slope down to another part of the cave, which is where I gasped (and I heard pretty much every single person do the same thing), as I said "Oh wow!" - you enter a HUGE area of the cave which is much lower and deeper than the area you walk down to from the slope. It's hard to put into words how amazing the view is. There's stairs and handrails that lead you down to this area, but you'll need to watch your footing as the steps are not evenly sized.
Once at the bottom, there's just so much to look at. There are lots of information boards put throughout the caverns detailing how the miner's conditions were etc. when they were there, which are all an interesting read.
There's two flooded areas of the cave which are lit nicely and are good photo points. All in all, the caverns are beautiful. I would say, if you stop to read the information boards, generally appreciate the sheer size of the caverns, and take various photos as I did, you'll be in there for around 45 minutes.
Once out, you're advised to return your hard hard to the gift shop, collect a free colourful ribbon, and to head off to the fairy / pixie garden to tie your ribbon somewhere for tradition. This is a lovely little extra and the garden area is really sweet. There's lots of little walkways you can take, but do be warned that there's also a lot of different levels, so you will encounter steps. There's also a woodland walk you can do, but I didn't have time to do this unfortunately. The garden area took me about 15 minutes I suppose before returning to my car (car park on-site).
Definitely recommend. Cheap and very interesting activity. This is also just down the road from the Trago Mills shopping centre, for location perspective.

Fascinating underground complex, we had a great time exploring and the interpretation of the site was great. We went in September and it was easy to book in but I imagine it can be very busy in high season and it would make sense to book ahead and plan your day around the weather as there's a lovely garden and woodland to explore when you're not in the caverns. Tea shop is great and they had several different gluten-free cakes - amazing!

Dogs are welcome on the woodland walk but not permitted in the caverns.

There shouldn’t be a problem the paths are well lit - you do have to wear a safety helmet though and they may not have baby size ones ? Best give the Caverns a call to clarify

How long do you typically spend here? To do the underground tour and walk around the woodland? Thanks!

Are there any small spaces to walk through?
I would love to go but the thought of walking underground in a tight small space is creeping me out!

There are no tight or small spaces, steps may be slippy but the caverns are very spacious.
How much entrance fee ?
Margaret S

It’s around £8.00 I think
Is it suitable for a toddler (almost 2)? Thanks
