We had a fun golf long weekend with friends here.
Lodge--5
Accommodations--5 (Pinnacle Cottages)
Location--5 (spectacular scenery)
Golf--5 (fun course)
Food--4
Staff--4 some great (Cricket, Sadie, Erin), some not-so-great
Archery/Airgun/Ax Throwing--1 (the condition of this activity area is really shocking. Hard to believe it's actually a part of Primland. Only two working guns for a group of eight, with only two 12-bb cartridges that had to be hand-loaded after every 12 shots. Why would you not be prepared with pre-loaded cartridges to keep guests occupied? Ax throwing target was on a makeshift tripod that collapsed with every throw. We had to throw at the target while it laid on the ground because it couldn't stay on the stand. Why not spend $25 and build a stand for the target? The archery targets are so old that the colors of the bullseye rings are no longer visible. They're just round straw targets. One animal shaped target was so beaten up that it was headless. The arrows themselves are old and missing feathers from their tails. The seating in the waiting area looks like a bench seat pulled from an old pickup truck.) I wouldn't recommend this activity area to any guest, and neither should the Primland front desk. It's embarrassing.

Overall we had a great time and it is breathtakingly beautiful, but there are areas that a general manager should address. There's work to be done if Primland wants to be considered in the same sentence as, let's say, The Greenbrier.

The Pinnacle Suites have the most amazing views and are absolutely beautiful. We got to see deer and even a black bear! The property is breath taking! Be sure to go to the pub and try the pig candy. I loved sitting on the patio over looking the golf course with more gorgeous views. Staff are very nice and accommodating!

Mr. Chad Trent was very happy to see us upon arrival. Mr. Trent went above and beyond the call of duty to make us feel extremely special and pampered by his wonderful smiling face, great professional appearance, well spoken, put together, and just a warmth and care that we expected to receive from such a great resort like PRIMLAND. Mr. Trent is NOT just working at PRIMLAND for a paycheck! Mr. Trent TRULY loves and cares about his job which over flows to his/your guests.......(my wife and I). We felt so warmly welcomed by Mr. Trent and he made us feel very special. Almost like we were royalty. Mr. Chad Trent should be immediately promoted to a high paying management position at PRIMLAND. He will love and care for his PRIMLAND guests for all of his days! This is an employee that deserves so much more from PRIMLAND’s compensation’s package. For my wife and I Mr. Trent is that wonderful, cheerful, professional, and warm hearted “face of PRIMLAND!”

How do you describe a place that changes your view on what a travel experience should be? Primland, with its beautiful 12,000 acres of land, has everything for people who enjoy the best of nature and hospitality. Our trip began with sporting clays and a 2-hour RTV tour of the property. Noel, our guide for both, was perfect. She helped my wife, who is new to guns, feel comfortable and had her consistently hitting targets by the end of the session. We then wound through RTV trails that were both scenic and fun to navigate.

My wife (who deserves woman of the year) accompanied me on a round of golf. I’ve never played a course with such views. The layout compliments the terrain while adding challenge that is fair, but tough. Bent grass covers the course, which is unique for a southern track. We had lunch at the 19th Pub and dinner at Elements. Both were fantastic. I recommend the scallops.

We lucked out that our appointment at the observatory that night coincided with perfectly clear skies. Rainey, the resident astronomer, taught us all about what we were able to see. Planets, stars, nebulae, and star clusters. This is an experience unique to Primland. Whomever thought to include the observatory on the lodge knew what they were doing.

The following day, the wife and I enjoyed a morning at the spa. We had a soak in the jacuzzi before a couples massage. The staff was exceptional.

My wife was gracious enough to allow for another round of golf. I was determined to tame the course, which didn’t happen on round 1. Having course knowledge made round 2 so much better.

Our last full day was brought in with snow showers. We woke up with snowy mountain views from our well-appointed suite. The staff had already salted all the pathways and roadways, so we decided to walk from our Pinnacle Cottage to the lodge for breakfast. A beautiful walk, and another beautiful dining experience.

Needless to say, we will be back. Our decision to spend our honeymoon here was a great one. And, selfishly, it means we will surely come back to celebrate where it all began. We are grateful to the staff for a beautiful experience.

We had a recent pheasant hunt where we stayed in the Patrim House and enjoyed a great time at Primland. Our hunting guide Michael was really good and he had the best dog's for hunting birds that I've ever seen. I highly recommend this experience at Primland. We had drinks in the bar at the main lodge and Erica was FANTASTIC. She took great care of us and was very accommodating for us being there late on a very slow evening. The service is always good there but it was exceptionally great this time. The Pig Candy topped off the night and is a CAN'T MISS.

Great location in a place I never would have thought to go. Beautiful hiking trails, stunning golf course. We stayed at the lodge however the cabins look incredible. Only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is it is a bit pricey on the food. However for a 4 day 3 night stay we loved it.

We visited on a Sunday for a guys golf day and a ladies spa day. Staff were all polite, professional, and accommodating. While the boys were playing golf, my friend and I enjoyed the amenities at the spa. We were given a quick tour, and soon enough, I was in the jacuzzi enjoying life. I had an amazing 90 massage. The grounds are breathtaking. And I strongly recommend having a glass of wine or beer with an order of pig candy....delicious!

Very peaceful and romantic spot. Beautiful vistas, no crowds. Rooms are nicely appointed. Restaurant is upscale with nice menu and wine list. We enjoyed an afternoon at the spa. Delissa treated me to an absolutely perfect massage! The relaxation room and pool area have lovely views and the staff is very attentive.

I am giving Primland 3 stars for the following reason. The prices at Primland are very high and therefore I am priced out. That said, if you are one of the few with money to burn this, for you, would garner 5 stars. Primland is beautiful and well staffed. They offer many excellent opportunities for entertainment. To be honest, I have been there twice. The first time I went for a late lunch and was shocked by the price of a club sandwich: $18. My second trip was simply to the bar for drinks with friends. Anyway, that is my take on Primland.....You be the judge.
