It is a pity this building is not open to tour every day. If you are here and it is open take the tour. It is one of the original historic buildings and provides a lot of information about life in the 1700's in Williamsburg.

Henry Wetherburn was the owner who made this tavern into one of the most successful. A visit gives you a glimpse into his private life. I found it worthwhile.

Unfortunately, although the website said the tavern was open for tours, it was not. We walked halfway across town for nothing, Rely upon the app instead of the website; apparently, it is more accurate.

Not open as was most everything else in historic williiamsburg!! there was no place to eat and only 1 place that i saw to get a drink out of vending machine. to say this place is a disappointment is an understatement!!!

Wetherburn Tavern is a place for you to step back and see what 18th-century living was like. The tours are very informative.

My family loves living so close to historical places. The guided tour through this tavern was so informative. Our guide showed us some things and shared with us some historical tidbits that you would not get just walking through. It was a wonderful experience and one of my favorite parts of Colonial Williamsburg.

Wetherburn Tavern is one DOG Street near Raleigh, King's Arms and the other CW taverns but this one is open for tours and staffedby volunteers. Beautifuy furnished it really depicts 18th Century Tavern stays during the Publick Days in CW. It is certainly worth a visit.

Our tour guide here was very nice and informative. Our four kids, ages 7,9,12, and 13 were interested in what she had to tell us about this tavern.
A tavern really is a hotel in colonial days. It was interesting to see the different parts of the hotel and hear how people traveled and stayed. In the back yard was a chicken coup. The tour guide gave the kids some greens from the garden they fed the chickens. It was a highlite for them. There are also sheep in the back of the tavern as well.
I do recommend this building to give you a great sense of what taverns were like back then.

It would be an ordinary old house, until the interpreters give it some real character by detailing the history of the house and its owners and inhabitants. House was divided into two sections...one for the common folk and other for the gentry class. Pricies were set for the poor folks lodging but the owner could charge whatever he could get for the gentry clients. The accomodations definitely reflected the price with at least two men to each bed for the commoners. If the beds wer occupied, then the chairs or the floor was the next best options. Like a free for all at a Motel 6. House also had a room for partys which could be rented for the evening...gentry only in attendence.

Is there a restaurant onsite and do you serve lunch or dinner on Thanksgiving Day 2018.
We are a large group and want to ensure we have reservations. Is that possible?
Thanks
