Camped at the DNR campground, great sites near the river. Even though the campground office was closed due to COVID, we were able to obtain a yearly pass on-line. Reserved our site months in advance to be sure of our site selection.

There are so many outstanding things to do in the BRSF. Canoeing of course. And camping. Hike up to the Winneboujou Bluff. Visit the site on the hill where movie scenes for Iron Will were shot. There's a spot out south wher you can walk amongst actual factual virgin white pine. Every Wed morning the horse people head out trail riding. Four wheeling. Fishing obviously. Agate hunting at the mouth. Driftwood trolling. Abandoned Homestead haunting. Find a swimming hole like at Co-op Park and skinny dip. Many marvelous and nearly magical perambulations await the explorer.

Afterhours ski trail was nicely groomed and had a variety of trail options. Trails are wide and pass through thick forest and along the river. All trail junctions were well marked with maps and signs. There are also several snowshoeing options. There are also warming shelters onsite.

Good food, fair prices and grest pies! Owner is a retired school teacher with lots of smiles. We eat here regularly.

8 of us went canoeing down the Brule river. Me & Sis overturned 2 times. It was one of the scariest times of our lives. Luckily we made it out alive. It was fun but we would never do it again!

One of the places to see in Northern Wisconsin. We were there to fish, but lots of people in canoes and kayaks, camping and general just looking around

We went canoeing and kayaking down the Brule River. What an adventure! We took the 1 and 1/2 hour tour. The river has beautiful, clear water and rapids. We had 2 couples that rented canoes and 3 people that rented kayaks. If you are not an experienced kayaker, I strongly suggest you rent canoes. All three people in the kayaks tipped over going over the rapids (and more than once). The water was moving pretty swift and there was no way you could turn around and paddle up stream. The 2 couples in the canoes had no problem going through the rapids. We have kayaked before but never over swift moving rapids! I should mention that there are about 7 sets of rapids! We would do it again (in a canoe) but the people in the kayaks said "never again"! I do want to say how beautiful the river is. The scenery was awesome.

The Brule river is serene and beautiful. Brule River Canoe Rental offers numerous canoe and kayak trips on this wonderful river. The office personnel are very knowledgeable and helpful. We decided on a 6 hour trip and were dropped off at our starting point within 20 minutes. The Brule has very slow deep areas where you can see the large trout, as well as rapid areas. I can now say I can paddle through class 2 rapids!

One word- beautiful! My husband and I stayed here for a weekend get away. He likes the fishing and I like the scenery. The Bois Brule campground is nice and clean. Spots have a table, fire ring, and bench. Many kayakers were using the river access in the campground (while we didn't participate in kayaking on latest trip, everyone seemed to be enjoying the rapids). This is one of our favorite places to go for a quiet weekend :) Oh... I forgot to mention they have updated the cell towers there to get 3G!

We canoed the middle reaches of the Brule twice. Both trips were awesome in all respects. There was solitude galore as we paddled under a tunnel of pines and balsam. The water was crystal clear showcasing schools of trout. We encountered a bear foraging near the streambank as a flotilla of 20 hatchling Mergansers floated peacefully by.....like a scene from a wilderness documentary. Rangers stopped us once, inspecting our gear for glass bottles which are prohibited. This was a very restful canoe trip with riffles, rapids, and chutes, action and solitude in the forest primeval.
