This place is amazing! Our thoughts are so strong about the military that it’s almost too much to absorb. The museum is very well maintained, and kept in perfect condition. The displays are wonderfully staged. Looking into the atmosphere is amazing, and what it does for our Country!!

In one of the charming, small houses along main street you will find information about the history of Makawao. Done with a lot of love and care, obviously. It's so worth it to stop by!

A really nice little museum of local history. Docent on duty was fun to chat with and added stories. Cool displays and local historical items. A nice stop on your stroll through Makawao town. Small admission fee keeps it up.

We happened on to the History Museum by chance. It was filled with photos and displays of the history of Maui. It was s cool look into history.

This little museum gave us a good flavor of the history and background of Makawao. It has an interesting and surprising past.

This is a small museum staffed by volunteers. There is lots of information and the volunteers are very knowledgeable.

We like to explore small, community museums and this place fit the bill. Essentially a one room storefront on what seemed to be the main street. I was excited to see a 10 gallon milk can, old bottles, and other material and learned that not only was dairying a part of the area's past, but there are still local dairy operations! Material we saw tied into expanding our knowledge and awareness in two other stops! No fee, but do donate.
Not a long stop - less than a half hour, but glad we did - it reminded us of our local museum that was about that size three decades ago but now is a great asset to our Culpeper community.

we were on the main street in the town of Makawao and we walked into this little Museum...from what I understand about this place is a lot of the things inside are on loan from the families from Makawao so its always changing as things leave and new things come in...it's just a quick history lesson

My wife and I stopped in to this museum during our visit to Makawao. It has a number of historical artifacts that are worth viewing and we had a great conversation with the woman in charge. I would not necessarily recommend driving to Makawao for the sole purpose of seeing this museum, but, if you are there, you should stop in.

There is not a lot to see but it is a well-curated display of local history items and news stories. Well thought out and put together the Makawao History Project offers the visitor a look into life in the years gone by. Don't forget to leave a donation or buy something as a gift or souvenir to keep the project running.
