The tour was informative and fun. The tasting room is great and our tour guide was very knowledgeable and made great recommendations on the products. The gin is the best I’ve ever had.

Fun and interesting tour. Our guide was awesome! Beautiful tasting room and great flavors of liquor! Then you can tour the glass place next door then try Polli’s Mexican restaurant for lunch or dinner. Makawao is a quaint and quiet little town. Check it out!

Nickie was our tour guide. She was concise and explained all the distillery tools used to make some amazing products. I recently tried Paniolo when a friend brought me back a bottle to the main land. I wanted to make sure I did this tour when I came to visit. I was not disappointed and I left knowing they take care of their product!

Superb experience and some of the best rum, vodka, and whiskey I’ve ever had. Didn’t try the gin but those who did said it was outstanding! Good prices too!

What a cute location and a great little tour! Our tour guide was incredibly knowledgeable! The alcohols they make are so unique and delicious!

Wow - there are a lot of rules when it comes to making rum, gin.vodka and whiskey. Thanks for the education and tour. The sampling at the end really puts it all into perspective. Awesome

Great view and history into the distillery world! One of a kind distillery, innovative practices and delicious spirits! Would recommend a tour!

If you are 21 or older, and attend the Pineapple Farm Tour, I say doing this is a no brainer... it's just about $10 per person!
There were 4 spirits during our visit but due to local alcohol governance a person can choose only 3 to stay under the allowed alcohol level - which is pretty good if you are concerned with a DUI :) so you can be the driver and still enjoy sampling their products
Vodka... was vodka - not my thing
Gin... was very interesting and I am not a gin person
Whiskey... was good but I had higher hopes to taste the pineapple flavor in (there is a Plantation Rum out their with that pineapple approach by another company if you are interested)
Rum... was the best and sadly enough they are considering or have already made a decision to discontinue it :(
Everyone can find something here (yea I was able to try 4 because me and my wife rather than taking 3 samples each split "just" 4 allowing to try each product and still be under the limit without any issues)
TIP: The tour in the warehouse is pretty noisy and it's tough to listen to it despite the speaker being used to make it louder, but reality is you come here to sample, I bet :) there is also a gift of bamboo straws for drinks given to each participant - again for the $12 USD per person..... that's a great way to try their products rather than buying full bottles (they go $30+ USD) them from the store (also you can find some of them in the local stores here in Chicagoland on the mainland so I can see how you can buy it in other stays without the need to order directly)

Dan was a fantastic tour guide. Taught us all about the different distilling ways and types of alcohol made from locally sourced ingredients in Maui. The staff are all super nice and helpful and they have fantastic products from T-shirts to sauces and jewellery. Just awesome!

without doing the tour, can we including teenagers come into the shop and buy bottles to take home?

Thanks for your inquiry! We are not a retail liquor store and can only sell bottles to our guests on the day that they take our distillery tour. This is due to the type of liquor license we have as a manufacturer. Minors are welcome to come on our tour but cannot enter our tasting room, which is also our store, and cannot purchase liquor. Our distillery is about an hour from Kaanapali, but plan for a little extra time in case there's traffic. We recommend booking a tour through our website before you come to see us. Mahalo!

I discovered the wonderful Pau vodka on this trip to Maui & was interested in what the equivalent distillation (using the glass stills) would be to other vodkas?

Aloha PJ. If I understand your question correctly, there is no other vodka using the same "one of a kind", handmade pharmaceutical-type glass stills that Hali'imaile Distillery uses. It's a slow process, hence the small batches, but I agree with you, Pau is wonderful. Best vodka I've ever had.

While reservations are not required they are highly recommended as tours are limited to a certain amount of people. Tours for future dates can be booked online through our website.

can I get a bus to near the distillery from kaanaapali

Aloha! No, there is no scheduled bus service between Ka'anapali (where I live) and Hali'imaile Distillery. If renting a car is out of the question, I suggest you try Uber. It's worth the trip AND you can have lunch across the street that is AWESOME!
