Replicas of a couple of the ships and a number of buildings for the different persons stayed and operated from her from the beginnging of the 18-hundreds. There is only one original building which is of stone. The rest were all of wood and some were destroyed by fire and others by age. The place also had a navy warf for ship maintenance and repairs. The place gives some clues about the history around that time and the 1812 war. Guides at different location will give you a lot of interesting information.

Last night we went to Discovery Harbours Ghost walk.. and it did not disappoint! This was our second year going. Last year things were just beginning to reopen after the pandemic, and my husband and I were celebrating our ten year anniversary. We decided a ghost walk was perfect for us! The walk was spooky and fun, great stories, candles lit around the various haunted locations. Our guide was great! Our 8 year old daughter also accompanied us, and so this year she wanted to do the walk again.

This year was spooktacular!! Same great stories, candles and spooky history.. but add actors and sound effects. Just go.. do it! Go on the walk it’s fabulous, spooky and affordable! My daughter is now 9 and was a little more jumpy this year with the extra features - so it might not be the best for little peeps.. but we are a horror family so it just depends!
Thanks for the great experience Discovery Harbour! Looking forward to next year - or sooner!

Fantastic, the simplicity of life back in 1800 should teach everyone to be thankful for what we have. How hard it was to survive.
Tremendous exhibits and staff, super informative and helpful.

it's nice and there's some History parked there too (two 1812 boats vs the americans with cute cannons).

Free parking and food nearby too.

It was interesting to learn about the dockyard that was Established here in 1817, by the British Navy, and to see how they lived and worked. You can go aboard the replica warship H.M.S Tecumseth and the ‘Bee’ supply ship. They have a full program of events, year-round. When we were there in August there were Battle re-enactments and a large tented encampment.

There are a few things to see. Replica ships and the settlement are there from more than a centuries ago. Would be good for a history enthusiast to visit.

I was under impression that there are just a few ships to look at. I was pleasantly surprised to find much more. There are a lot of hisorical buildings (replicas) with stuff in them and you can come close to see. It was very enjoyable trip

Make sure you do not miss any of the museum. There is a modern building in the back with the boat Tecumseth that was raised from the harbour that needs to be visited. The rest of the buildings had plaques and the interpreters were very helpful. It is a bit of an extended walk but not too bad.

So I am not much into these things, but I have to admit it was cute.

Our tour guide was Molly and she is a high school student, so credit to her on the public speaking. They broke people into groups and based on when you got there they staggered the starts. They had on hand a number of solar lanterns, so that was cute.

For the most part, all walking paths were well maintained and easy for most to walk on. The added accent of burning candles in lanterns was actually very effective at setting for a nice walk.

The stories themselves were a little light, but they threw in a couple of surprises along the way, which got a reaction and kept people light-hearted. Suggest bringing a jacket or a sweater, I failed to and once the sun went down and the wind was still up there was a chill.

For $10.00 admission and 1.15 hours of fun, I would say great value.

Once you leave the car park and go thru the admissions building your walking into history. Turn a corner and you’ll meet friendly folk in period costumes ready to engage you in lively conversation about their day to day lives ...
Be prepared to walk a fair distance as the facility stretches over a considerable distance. Wander in and out of dwellings shops and businesses. Meet the people who lived worked and pioneered this great country in days gone by.
