We didn't know what to expect but had added this to our Sea To Sky itinerary. Nice walk to stretch our legs, we were tempted to swim since it was a hot day!

Have you ever found yourself in a postcard? Your friends would look at your photo and won’t believe it is real? This is exactly why you should visit Murrin Provincial Park, and hike the Jurassic Ridge trail.
Here, you have a chance to breathe in and fully embrace the spectacular Howe Sound with all of your senses at once! …and once the hard part of this awesome hike is done – enjoy a refreshing swim in nearby Browning Lake!
Although we did the trail with our 3yo - our son is very experienced hiking with us by now, we would NOT recommend hiking Jurassic Ridge with kids under 5yo. Even if you carry your baby in a carry-on, it could prove difficult as in some areas you’ll literally need to crawl up or down using ropes. If you are still taking a child with you, it is safer to have 2+ adults.
We also do NOT recommend Jurassic Ridge trail to anyone with mobility concerns, recent injuries, health issues.
Read our full review and enjoy stunning photos on our blog - link in bio. Search for Murrin Park or Jurassic Ridge.

The Jurassic Ridge walk branches off from the loop trail. It takes about 2 hours total but the views are stunning. First up is the Quercas viewpoint. You then continue up onto the ridge and you come across viewpoint, after viewpoint. Brilliant walk and the views of Howe Sound are stunning. BC's best kept secret?

This is a great park with a small lake for swimming and fishing. There is an easy path around the lake. There are also steep hiking trails to an overlook and we also saw lots of rock climbers enjoying themselves.

A little bit difficult to make the left turn off of the highway if driving northbound, but lovely little spot to make a short stop. In the fall there are families fishing by the picnic area. Short loop hike up to great views all around. Rock climbers practicing on rock faces along the trail.

We spotted this little gem from the highway and in need of stretching our legs thought it looked like a nice spot to take a break. We walked right around the lake - no big feat as it only takes about 30 minutes - but the beauty, clarity of the water, excellently created and maintained facilities and paths made it something to be remembered. People had boats on the lake, others were practicing their rock climbing skills and others had massive spreads of delicious looking picnics laid out on the tables. It's all just so easily accessed and so well done. Toilets are lovely and clean - it's all a credit to the people that are charged with maintaining this little gem. Well worth a stop!

Murrin Lake is on the southbound side of Hwy 99 after the Sea to Sky Gondola.

Reasonable free car parking, amenites, and a short walk to waterfront where numerous picnic table await.

Lovely spot

I've noticed this numerous times over the past 25 years driving to whistler but never stopped. this time I did. although the lake is small and not terribly interesting, it's the hike to the top of Quercus viewpoint behind the lake which is the hidden gem. This is not well advertised by the info boards at the park entrance. the only ones to venture to the peaks are the rock climbers. but if you want a short (1.5 hour roundtrip including viewing) hike (roughly 120 m elevation), the peak at Quercus point gives you views that rival stawamus chief but with a shorter hike. it's a gem. we came across 2 people at the peak and we loitered around taking in the views for at least 45 minutes. (compared to the hundreds that visit stawamus chief).

Had a short stopover here on the way back from Whistler to Vancouver. It is a really quiet place and good for having a picnic. The lake though small is pretty.

We stopped here on our way to whistler, beautiful spot by a lake and amazing walking trails.
We met one of the trail makers and he gave us some good tips on the trails in the park with spectacular views of Howe Sound .
The best view was a new trail under construction called Jurassic Ridge.
It was a challenging trail with rope guides in certain area, but well worth the effort.
There are also quit a few places to do rock climbing with the proper equipment...that is the at beyond our means.
I would recommend this Park to all as a great rest stop with many picnic tables and easy access.
I will return next time out here.
