We parked in the car park at the end of Stirling Rd near the Nature Playground. Here we started the 2.4 kilometer easy loop trail that follows the edge of the lake. The water level of the lake was at its maximum and we immediately headed to the covered observation platform. On this side of the lake there is a narrow trail between the high fence of the Scotch College Playing Grounds and the lake shore. The observation platform is located on a shallow seabed, but allows you to have an excellent view of the lake as well as being used as a nest by the welcome swallows (Hirundo neoxena). Although built near the lake, the path is always bordered by a low fence that never allows access to the area between the path and the edge of the lake. The reason for this low fence is well explained by the several signs that inform of the presence of nesting areas for swans, snake-necked turtles and other species. This low fence seems to be made primarily to prevent dogs from harassing bird chicks and turtles. Dogs are allowed here but must be under close supervision of the owner. During our visit we were able to observe many species of water birds easily recognizable also for the rich explanatory signs that list the fauna of the reserve. Among them nankeen night heron (Nycticorax caledonicus), pink eared duck (Malacorhynchus membranaceus) and pied stilt (Himantopus leucocephalus). It was a great pleasure for us to be able to observe a large number of newly born chicks of Australian black swan (Cygnus atratus), Australasian swamphen (Porphyrio melanotus) and Eurasian coot (Fulica atra). This is definitely the result of the important ongoing activity aimed at conserving and protecting the flora and fauna of this reserve and above all the areas destined for reproduction, which can be seen in many areas of the reserve. Claremont Lake Reserve is undoubtedly a well preserved and protected area where wildlife is very rich and, aspect of great importance, the animals find a favorable condition for reproduction. Pleasant and interesting visit.

Lake Claremont and the associated wetlands are wholly within the town of Claremont. The lake has an abundance of birdlife, and venues to view them. Its a favorite setting for birdwatchers. The lake is a refuge for ducks and other waterfowl; hunting is not allowed. The area near the lake also has playgrounds for children. The lake is tranquil; it's a great place to calm the nerves.

Nice walk around the lake, not very long. Path is very good but you can’t get closer to the edge of water due to a fence on one side. Saw quite a few birds. There are better lakes to walk around in Perth.

Nestled in the heart of Claremont and Mt Claremont the Lake Reserve offers a wide range of activities that can be undertaken surrounded by a great piece of urban bushland, walking, running, dog exercise, children's playgrounds and BBQ areas. The birdlife is amazing and plenty of information posted around describing the unique flora and fauna. The park area also offers a great little par 3 golf course and terrific little licensed café offering good coffee, breakfast, lunch and evening dinner.

Hidden in the middle of suburbia is this classic parkland /lake that is one of the most delightful nature walks in Perth.
Native birds are everywhere, the wildflowers are beautiful, and the presentation, upkeep of the reserve is first class..... and little adjoining golf course make this a wonderful way to spend a few hours...and then finish with a coffee or a snack at the two outlets.
Divine.

Do yourself a favour and do a few laps of Lake Claremont. Birds, locals, coffee, golf, and shoot a few hoops at the local basketball courts!

This park has transitioned from Butlers Swamp, then a good 18 hole golf course to a really nice nature reserve. Good walking paths and many nice spots to sit, rest or have a picnic. Native plants and trees make for pleasant surroundings: well worth the visit. Do the whole circuit if you can and have a coffee stop at the Golf Club Café. The par 3 course is open.
