The three “Bandidos” of Tierra Bomba …..

My family and I were looking forward to a relaxing day at Amare Beach Club on this island located just 15 to 20 minutes from Cartagena As soon as we got dropped off from our taxi, we were accosted by local people chasing us down to sell us packages to different choices on this island We explained that we would like to go to this particular club (Amare) negotiated a price ($180 pesos r/t) and we were off. As soon as we got underway, one of the three gents escorting us on this adventure, were pushing us to only go to their particular beach club and not Amari beach Club ? We were confused and it was like we were held hostage with no choice of our destination? We pulled up to a extremely Shoddy looking Beach With many local people partying and scattered about this un attractive property Before we got off the boat, we asked what the price of this would be. They explained that the charge would be 30 pesos per day per person (for the beach club) With no other choice, we agreed The three Bandidos never left our area they constantly annoyed us with questions and statements like don’t take any orders from anybody. Do not speak to anybody about food or drinks only us? We were very suspicious (with Good Reason) We ordered three pina coladas, (without any menu) Before we ordered, we confirmed that the price would be 90 pesos per drink (my daughter even wrote it on a piece of paper to confirm and they agreed) We then ordered lunch for my daughter. They brought over a tray of assorted fish, and she decided on a red snapper. They confirmed that the price would be 100,000 pesos for the meal (we agreed) Nobody else around us were ordering anything from this establishment and we would later find out why We made the best of the situation. Beach was dirty and the water, very cloudy and gray. The drinks were OK. The fish was good. As the day was wrapping up and they (bandidos) Surrounded us, handed me a check The amount on the check was ridiculous Everything they said was a lie. All the casts that we previously negotiated and confirmed were way way out of whack We felt extremely uncomfortable! (they were very hostile) Five people surrounded us arguing for a half hour they even put on a 50,000 peso service charge on the bill ? I tried to be reasonable and negotiate to even split the bill ? My family was very nervous as we were now the last people on the beach with no transportation back so I had no choice but to pay them this ridiculous charge we were held hostage?? My daughter and wife were very shaken up on this experience We were driven back by only one of the people to Cartagena It is completely unfortunate that we had to endure this situation as we had incredibly positive time in Cartagena! We understand that people have to make a living, but robbing tourists is not a great way to make your money ? Do not let this happen to you! Book all your boat trips to any of the islands through the hotels or beach clubs, that you will be going to do not go to this disaster!…

Playas agradables

El lugar es agradable, a diferencia de las playas grises de cartagena allí la arena es más clara y el mar más tranquilo, sin embargo hago la misma recomendación de las opiniones de esta ciudad. Pregunta antes de consumir por los precios y negocia, siempre están dispuestos a estafarte, los cócteles muy malos y con poco licor. Te recomendaría llevar tus propias bebidas. Además las playas están sobrexplotadas

Tourist trap...beware!!

Have you got visions of crystal clear water, exclusive beach, drinks on demand, far from crowds, palm trees. Well you may thinking of buying a trip from each and every hotel lobby, tourist travel shop along the strip in Cartagena. I'll makethis short, you are coraled into a tiny beach, water no different, murkey and bits of rubbish, zero fish. Boom boom music pumped at you via huge speakers 2pac or P Daddy would be proud of. Beach busy as myriads of water taxis load more victims. Dinner is like a holiday camp queuing with trays as they slop it out at ya. Drinks prices extortionate. It like being at a football match or rock concert. Never again. Water full of locals. half asking to borrow my scuba gear as they frolic and splash in the small enclave. of water."the Blue Beach" lol, talk about a trap. Then again 50 usd per person, Im not expecting St Kitts or Bermuda. Vendors to a minimum compared to mainland. Jet ski, massage, mango, beads, sunglasses and canoes. All the usual suspects. I used to resort to pretending to be on the phone, best way is ignoring them as they take no as a conversation starter. Relax with the high reving jet skis, speakers at all locations. Pool dirty, beware of my pics as they make it look good, it aint.…

Drivers for Isla Bomba

If you need a driver to take you around Isla de Tierra Bomba and Boca Chica: Contact: Jairo: +573205094878 (What's App) Miguel +573148441142 (Local Number) My sister and I used them and had a good experience. It will be by motorbike as there are no cars on the Island. Would not recommend traveling at night as the roads are not paved and poorly lit. Also recommend bringing U.S. dollars to tip if you don't have pesos.
