This is my favorite place to stay in big bear! It’s close to town and stater bros. What I like most is the clean design and amenities they offer depending on which cabin you chose some have a gas pizza maker, an outdoor jacuzzi, or bbq grill. When I come here I can feel my stress melt away. You get to be in the woods yet have all the necessities such as kitchen and showers. It’s calm and peaceful but not boring! Can’t wait till my next trip :)

Save your money. At the cost of $630 per night one would expect to find a cabin in good condition, cleaned appropriately (especially during a pandemic!). Instead, what we found was dirty and very beat up. The photos online are clearly old and misleading. We paid extra for a cabin with a tub, which we were so grossed out, we absolutely didn’t touch. There are stains all over the bathroom, the grout is brown. The wood is rotting. The couch has stains all over it. Someone left their hair clip in the kitchen. There are cobwebs. The bathroom sink is clogged. The furniture was in disarray upon our arrival… even stupid stuff like the clock had no battery, there’s no deadbolt on the door, the art on the walls was falling off. At the very least, for $630 per night it should be clean. Not to mention, if you're charging a cleaning fee, you shouldn't be presenting a dirty cabin, in addition to asking guests to take out their trash and, again during a pandemic, asking previous guests to clean the dishes. That is, quite frankly, gross. Look, it’s not the worst place we've ever stayed. But their online presentation and the price point are highly misleading. We thought we were coming to have a relaxing weekend at a cabin in which we would want to spend time. And that is absolutely not what we got. It seems like these people have no interest in running a business and all that entails. What a huge disappointment. We left a day early, we couldn’t stomach staying another night. We requested a refund for the night we didn’t stay and a refund of the cleaning fee. I never got a response from my email, which is rude, and we only got a partial refund of the night we didn’t stay. What a disappointment. All this to say that, also, Big Bear is not taking COVID seriously. So many people without masks, and to top it off, we seriously couldn’t find a restaurant in town that was doing takeout on a weekend. That is insane. All in all, spend your money elsewhere, these people don’t care.

My husband and I, along with our two month old, have been wanting to get away from LA, especially since staying at home is the new norm now. I’ve had my eye on this place since finding it on Booking, but the prices were insane! $1288/night was out of the question, so I watched the price and decided to check their website out. Luckily, booking through their website was cheaper. Anyway, we were definitely excited to get away from the city to relax. We booked the cabin with one bedroom and a loft, which ended up being cabin 2. It wasn’t like the pictures. We were cabin catfished! First of all, it was freezing cold when we got there. They have you check-in only after 3, and had asked me when I was going to arrive. So why didn’t they turn the heater on? The weather outside was 22 degrees! Again, I have a two month old, so I had to keep her warm, and the cabins are not well insulated. I was able to email the host to ask for a portable heater, and they answered promptly. My husband had to go outside to a shed behind cabin 1, in the dark, and grab the heater. The shed was full of spilled cleaning chemicals, sheets, towels and cabin supplies in piles. The heat didn’t work, then I had to email them again and they said there was another in the shed too. Thankfully, my husband found that one hiding under a pile of bags and towels and it worked. After we settled in a bit, we realized the place was a bit run down, dusty, and not cleaned. It wasn’t even a little dirty, it actually felt both lived in and neglected. We found hot Cheetos on the bathroom floor, hair in the shower, hair on the mattresses, pieces of trash in the living space, thick cobwebs over lights, spiders... there was dust on every surface. The couch had stains and dirt on it — we laid a blanket over it to sit down comfortably without feeling grossed out. One of the beds wasn’t even made well — the fitted sheet wasn’t even on fully and it looked like someone had slept in the bed already. The shower curtain had stains all over. You might ask why we didn’t just leave. Well, it was dark out and a massive snow storm was beginning, driving home 2.5 hours down a mountain wasn’t an option. The next day, we were pretty much snowed in with over a foot of fresh snow. The road conditions weren’t safe to head home and we were excited to see snow, so we stayed. The host offered to get the cleaners out to us again, but with Covid, we had no where to go and didn’t want a stranger in the cabin putting us all at risk. Their excuse for the condition of the cabin was that the cleaners were a bit rushed with 6 cabins to clean the day we arrived, with a snow storm coming. What we found was not a rushed cleaning, but a general neglect and lack of attention from the owners of this place. Really disappointed about the place. The pictures are outdated and I’m sure it was really nice before, but their upkeep is terrible, especially for the prices they’re charging. If I was the owner, I’d make sure the place was still nice and worth the prices they’re charging. Due to Covid, you would think they were more strict about their cleaning, but you’d never know they were taking a single precaution during this pandemic, with no hand sanitizer in sight and cabins being rented, vacated, hastily cleaned and re-rented within hours. Not sure how that’s safe. Anyway, our cleaning fee was refunded, but it doesn’t make me happy with the prices they’re charging and knowing they weren’t taking Covid seriously. I’m so glad we brought our big box of Clorox wipes! I shouldn’t feel the need to have to clean everything, but I guess with Covid, you have to anyway. We were really hoping for a relaxing stay, but we felt anxious and grossed out when we were inside.
