Dear Corleonediver, Greetings from U Sukhumvit Bangkok and thank you for sharing your concerns about your recent stay at our hotel. I am truly sorry for the negative experience you had, as we truly hope for all our valued visitors to be nothing less than utterly satisfied. However, upon reading your comments it became apparent that you left the hotel feeling rather disappointed. I hope you will kindly grant me this opportunity to elaborate somewhat further on the comments and remarks made in your review in an effort to alleviate any ill feeling or dissatisfaction. As a result of a recent incident it became unavoidable that we had to immediately declare the hotel’s swimming pool temporarily out of service. Although this problem has now been fully rectified and the pool is fully operational again, the maintenance unfortunately coincided with the time of your visit. Whilst we endeavored to inform all our guest of this, unfortunately it seems that due to time constraints that the message did not reach you until your arrival at the hotel, for which I am truly sorry. As part of our efforts to relieve the impact of the pool closure at that time, we had made an arrangement for our guests to make free use of a similar Rooftop Pool at a hotel next-door. Meanwhile, all our other facilities, including the Rooftop Bar, continued to operate as usual. I completely understand your disappointment, but at the same time hope for your kind understanding of the fact that we were left with no other option than to close the swimming pool, since as an internationally managed hotel we regard the safety of our guests as the very highest priority and we had no choice but to take urgent action. When my team advised you of this matter, this clearly and visibly upset you. My colleague at the front desk kept his calm and tried his best to appease you by offering you a range of options in order to reach a satisfactory solution. For example, the hotel offered free use of a nearby Rooftop Pool, transfer to and from the other pool at all times of day, a cash refund for half your stay, discounts and all-day buy 1 get 1 free for drinks at the hotel restaurant or bar and even free beverage vouchers. Apart from the refund, none of the available options seemed to meet your expectations and so, to show our utmost sincerity and willingness to reach a suitable solution, we settled by refunding the second night of your 2-night stay and waiving the cancellation charge which would normally apply. At the time we understood that through this, your request had been sufficiently met and that the matter had been conclusively resolved. We made every effort to ensure that our range of solutions offered were generous and commensurate with the inconvenience of having to use an alternative pool as opposed to the one in our hotel, and therefore my colleague had to politely decline your additional request for us to pay out an additional cash amount, such as for transportation. I am truly saddened that as a result of the pool maintenance, and in spite of our every effort to meet your expectations, your entire experience felt to you that it warranted nothing more than a single star rating. I hope the above clarifies the matter somewhat and gives you an indication that we operate with the utmost sincerity and fairness to our guests, as we will always try and make every reasonable effort to find a suitable solution. I am disappointed that you decided not to consider any of the other alternatives we offered and as a result chose to relocate to another hotel. I can fully understand the negative impact of this decision on your holidays, and for this I would like extend my sincerest apologies. May I end by saying that I truly wish that your holidays ended on a positive note through your experience at the hotel where you spent the last night of your trip. The team and I want nothing more than for you and all our other visitors to have an amazing time, and to experience the many great attractions that the city has to offer. I do hope that, in spite of the monsoon-season rainfall over the 2 days that you were here, you managed to make most out of your time and hold fond memories of your overall holiday through Asia.
