What a fantastic villa. The whole villa is in excellent condition and in a stunning location. The views are breathtaking. We were an extended family of six adults and two children so there was loads of space for us.
All the interior of the villa is lovely. The bedrooms are all good and have air con, with exception of the room with the bunk beds in, which seemed very hot, but fortunately we did not need to use that room. I’m sure they would provide a fan for that room if requested. All the bathrooms and showers are excellent, but you do have to hold the shower in the corner bath of the master bedroom ensuite. The beds are ok although many of them are just metal frame sprung beds and so a bit squeaky every time you move. The beds were not made when we arrived, and we were not offered a change of bedding or towels during our stay, although again I think it would have been provided if requested. There’s a washing machine so we washed the towels ourselves. Pool towels are not provided either.
The kitchen is very well equipped for the maximum number of guests. Plenty of crockery, cutlery, cooking utensils, glasses, etc. There are a lot of large knives but very few are sharp. Also there was no dishwasher salt or tablets provided, which was disappointing when we realised on the first night.
The outside space is great with amazing views. Lots of trees, flowers and a large grass area, which are all well maintained. Herman came in quite a few times to water and check the pool during our stay and was happy to help if we had any queries. The pool is a good size with steps at one end. It is quite deep though, about 1.4m at the bottom of the steps at its shallowest. The raised edge to the pool provided an effective barrier for our 18 month old grandson. We provided a paddling pool for him which worked well, and there were also a number of balls and toys for the children to play with.
Good terraced areas around the villa and pool with two large tables, so plenty of room for dining outside. The outside kitchen area is great with sink and large brick barbeque. We provided charcoal, but there were some logs available for us to use. There is also a large top opening fridge outside which was great for all our drinks. Good sun beds, we had six which was enough for our group. The two sun beds shown on the wooden terrace were ripped and so not really usable, but they may have been repaired now, and the swing seat no longer has a canopy. The large parasol was also damaged. The shaded ‘chill out area’ at the end of the pool was great, both during the day and for relaxing with a drink before our evening meal. The furniture is now rattan chairs and sofa in that area but still good.
The communication with the owner and managers was good both before we arrived and during our stay. Cristian and Alberto met us at the arranged meeting point and led us up to the villa. They had also sent us maps showing the location of the villa. They explained that the last couple of km is a mountain track which is quite steep in places, and yes it was. Concrete for the first half and then a track for the last section to the villa entrance. Going up the first time was a bit airy with steep hairpins and what appear to be long drops to the valley bottom in places, but by just taking it steady, keeping in first gear and not using the clutch it was ok. In fact after a couple of runs up and down you did get use to it and realised that you can see good distances in front in most of the tricky places and even though we did meet one or two other cars on the track during our stay you can with a bit if care reverse or pull into sections wide enough for two cars. Probably not for the nervous driver though!
But the villa location was well worth the drive up. It is isolated; you’re not going to be walking anywhere, but if it’s peace and quiet with a lovely villa and fantastic views you’re looking for then this could well be for you.
