We stayed here 5 nights in January 2020.
Barbara picked us up at the airport and gave us a little tour on route to the cottage.
She also had a map with details for us of beaches, restaurants, supermarket etc.
We also rented their SUV which was brilliant and necessary to explore this wonderful island.
The cottage is just paradise - quiet, clean, great bed, shower and kitchen - everything you could possibly need.
And then the BBQ area, bar and infinity pool - amazing.
One of our best ever vacations!

Paradise Found
Our stay at Bonita Vista for 9 nights in June/July surpassed all of our expectations, which were pretty high to begin with. The views at Bonita Vista were spectacular (even better than the wonderful pictures online) and the grounds around the cottage and pool bar were very well maintained and lush. The cottage was immaculate and quite spacious and cozy for 2. It had everything you could need to enjoy your vacation! The bed was super comfy, the shower was heaven, there was an abundance of towels -both bath and beach - a very well stocked kitchen with everything needed to cook a meal. Coolers, beach chairs, a large selection of snorkeling equipment, etc. were great for our beach days and exploring. After days at the beaches we would cool off in the pool and relax at the pool bar enjoying the breezes, views and the peace and tranquility of the island. The pool bar itself is an amazing structure with many design elements incorporated by Kris from artifacts found on Vieques and in his travels. A/C was very nice to have on some warm nights, WiFi worked great and we didn’t miss TV at all! It was wonderful to unwind and disconnect in this gorgeous and peaceful setting.
We rented Kris & Barbara’s SUV and it was so effortless and easy and highly recommend others doing the same. The car was in great shape and took us everywhere around the island with no problems. Kris picked us up at the airport and gave us a quick tour of Isabel Segundo. Barbara welcomed us and provided a map of Vieques and pointed out where restaurants, beaches and places of interest were located as well as giving us pointers and suggestions on things to do and where to eat.
Our restaurant favorites were Bili, Coqui Fire, Tin Box, Bigotes, El Quenepo, Rising Roost, Isla Nena Cafe (at the airport – amazing dumplings and crab rangoons), Bananas and Gracias De Nada.
Beaches: we have traveled all over the Caribbean but this was our first trip to Vieques and the beaches here were absolutely gorgeous!! There were a number of days that the 2 of us were the only ones on a beach! We missed visiting some of the beaches due to not having enough time, but that just means we need to plan another trip!
Bio-bay Tour – OMG! This should be on everyone’s bucket list! This was so amazing we did it 2 nights in a row. Plan to go on a new moon cycle if possible – we actually planned our trip around that, since the Bio-bay was one of the reasons we wanted to visit Vieques. Barbara recommended JAK Watersports and their clear bottom kayak tour was out of this world!
Kris & Barbara are exceptional hosts and were wonderfully welcoming and personable, as well as being discreet and providing utmost privacy if that is what you are seeking. We very much enjoyed our interactions with them and their 2 very sweet pups, and Barbara even went out of her way to track us down on the day we checked out to deliver some clothing items I inadvertently left behind and brought the items to us at St. Voodoo’s Mar Azul, where we were having lunch prior to our flight. We can’t wait to come back to Bonita Vista Cottage and the amazing island of Vieques!

A perfect stay
We had a great stay at Bonita Vista.
The views from the pool bar are terrific. We enjoyed sitting there with a morning coffee and an evening drink.
Barbara and Kris were very helpful. Barbara met us at the car rental and led us through grocery shopping and an orientation to Isabel Segunda before guiding us to the property.
The casita is well equipped, including AC. There is plenty of beach gear to borrow also; beach chairs and snorkeling fins and masks.

Amazing location with incredible views
This place exceeded our expectations in every way. Pictures really don't show how truly spectacular the views are. It feels like you can see the whole island from the private outdoor kitchen and pool area. I couldn't stop taking panoramas the whole time we were there.
Barbara and Kris were very helpful and welcoming and gave us complete privacy during our stay. Barbara had some great recommendations for restaurants and beaches as well. The beach that Barbara recommended is actually where we ended up getting engaged! It's one of many deserted and secluded white sand beaches on the island -- just absolutely perfect.
We can't say enough good things about Vieques and this amazing guesthouse!

Amazing!
This is long over due, but better late than never! This is a gem of a spot on the beautiful island Barbara and Kris are so hospitable and they have a lovely, private, quiet place to enjoy. The cottage is nicely done, clean and the kitchen was so nice to have. The pool and pool bar area are a great place to enjoy the fabulous views of the island. They have great recommendations for shopping, dinning and adventures on the island. We had the most relaxing visit and would definitely recommend this place to stay.

Absolute Paradise. Couldn't be more perfect.
My wife and I visited Isla de Vieques and stayed at Bonita Vista for our honeymoon!!! This is hands down the best decision we could have made. Let's be clear, the Island of Vieques is absolutely beautiful with so many adventures to be had and beaches to visit. Bonita Vista is the perfect place to experience all the island has to offer.
Barb and Kris make you feel right at home before you even arrive. They met us right at our JEEP rental spot and took us directly to the property. From there you are on island time!!! Barb and Kris (and their great dogs) will meet with you and give a great detailed layout of the island (the places to go and not to go). After that, you're on your own.
The cottage has everything you'll ever need during your stay. Great little kitchen, AC, wifi, great bathroom and shower, and of course the pool and pool bar with the view. You could sit at the pool all day and night (excellent star gazing) and be happy. This is the absolute best place to stay for you and your significant other.
As far as Vieques goes you must be sure to visit as many beaches as possible! Grab a "Vieques Guide" and do all you can! There is not a bad beach on the island!! Be sure to visit the many restaurants and meet the locals! Everybody is extremely nice, helpful, and fun to talk to.
If you're looking for a Caribbean getaway then Bonita Vista on Vieques is the absolute place for you. The location, view, and amenities are all nothing short of perfect. You will not be disappointed at Bonita Vista!! It. Is. Paradise.

Dreamy Paradise
We had the opportunity to stay at Bonita Vista with Barbara and Chris for 2 nights and wish we never had to leave.
After many years working for different hotels and luxury resorts, Bonita Vista exceeds the quality of the time you could spend in any of them.
Barbara and Chris offer you the most amazing setting and amenities to privately enjoy and make your own while there. Even though Vieques offers you amazing beaches and interactive sea life experience, you do not want to leave Bonita Vista for there is no need.
Thank you Barbara and Chris, you have an amazing place and trully appreciate your efforts to be green and environmentally conscious; you set an example.
Wish you the best and hope we can visit again.

A comfortable home away from home with an amazing view
We loved Barbara and Kris' rental. It was very clean, and designed with a lot of thought -- a nice large shower, functional kitchen and outdoor grill with everything we needed for cooking breakfast and a couple of dinners. The view from the pool bar was simply amazing -- the bays during the day and the stars at night. The extra bathroom and outdoor hose at the pool bar, and the clothesline were all very handy. Barbara provided beach chairs, snorkel gear, and a cooler bag to take with us on our daily treks to different beaches and kayaking spots. She also provided great recommendations for places to eat, buy food to cook, places to go, etc. We particularly loved seeing Katy and Rudy every morning when we got up and in the evening when we returned home. They are the best dogs, very well-behaved (they came to visit because we called out to them when we saw them). The location is really conveniently in the middle of the island so getting to the wildlife refuge, Esperanza, and Isabel is all less than 15-20 minutes away (depending on if you have to slow down for horses in the road or speed bumps!). It took us a couple of times to navigate the driveway (and some of the narrow roads on the island), but we were much better once we switched our 4 door Jeep Liberty with no oomph for the smaller 2 dr Wrangler. We would definitely recommend Barbara and Kris' place to friends!

A Great Escape! Private, with Views to Die for!
I want to add my chorus to all the positive comments. Bonita Vista received a coveted "5" from me (I don't give many) mainly because of the pool bar area. The view was gorgeous, it was a very private area, and we enjoyed the ability to eat outside at the bar, or just lounge on the comfy chairs. Soooo relaxing!
Everything about the stay was positive. The cassita was more than adequate (although a microwave would have been nice). The bed was perfect and we slept like logs. Hot water immediately in the shower - wow, THAT was a welcome surprise - and the a/c worked great. The wifi was frustratingly come and go so if you depend on it for work or staying connected - this probably is not a good place for you. For us, it was absolutely fine as it appeared just often enough to respond to critical emails and to post my Facebook pictures. AND we were also able to stream our Netflix shows 2/6 nights. ;-)
Barbara and Kris were great hosts, friendly and with good tips for island life. The location is great - very near both towns and NWF with its gorgeous beaches. I highly recommend this cottage. I would return in a minute!

PERFECT SERENITY!!!
This was my husband and my third visit to Vieques, and our best yet!!! Barbara and Kris were gracious and knowledgable hosts, from our arrival through departure. The cottage was modern, extremely clean, and equipped with everything we needed, resulting in our stay being comfortable, restorative, and extremely relaxing. Outside we had our own private paradise, with outstanding views, gorgeous sunrises,and beatifully groomed grounds filled with native Carribean trees and flora. After our daily trip to one of Vieques many amazing beaches, we would return to Bonita Vista , take a refreshing dip in our pool, and enjoy the outside bar area. (also extremely well equipped with a gas grill & sink; a perfect area to prepare a "dine at home" meal). With so many outstanding restaurants on Vieques, we mostly opted to dine out and return to our cottage for some incredible nitely star gazing. We had a very efficient air cconditioning system, but chose to be lulled to sleep by the call of the coqui (a small frog endemic to Puerto Rico) and to be awakened by the island roosters! Heartfelt thanks to you Barbara and Kris; we were truely blessed to have celebrated our 39th wedding anniversary at Bonita Vista!. We will be back!!!
