This is a lovely cottage and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. There were a couple of ‘niggles’ but they did react. My only recommendation would be to get lighter duvets as it was very hot when we were there so sleep was difficult. A fab place that I can thoroughly recommend😀

Beautiful accomodation extremely well equipped could not fault anything stayed in the three bed cottage with children and grand children and cottage suited all our needs. Local beach and convenient for many local attractions. We would love to stay again and would recommend.

Fabulous location for walks on the beach and easy access for nearby towns. The old Police House was perfect for our weekend away. It had everything we could possibly have needed, the layout of the downstairs was ideal for socialising whilst preparing meals and the upstairs bedrooms were all lovely. Had a lovely meal in the Dunstanburgh Castle Hotel one evening which was exceptional value. Would definitely return.

Stayed here 3 nights last weekend with our family as we were attending a wedding nearby. Check-in was simple, across the road at the Hotel. The cottage is spacious and has all amenities you could wish for. The large family kitchen was fab for family get-together around the kitchen table. Everything you need was to be found in cupboards and all the crockery, pots and pans etc were of good standard and repair, as were all the appliances etc. We wanted for nothing! The lounge isn't huge, but as it is almost open plan into the kitchen (dual log burner between the rooms) it didn't feel cramped. TV + DVD player! In fact TV in all the bedrooms too. Beds were comfortable, but I agree with a previous post that it's annoying to have to pay an extra charge for a camp bed, which was very uncomfortable with a very thin mattress, (suggest invest in a better quality camp bed if you are going to charge extra) but we did know about this additional charge before we went. I read a previous post saying the cottage is looking tired and that the owner replied that it was due to be decorated in January, so we were rather hoping that the redecoration had freshened the place up by the time we went in February, but it hasn't been decorated as yet and does need it in some parts. There are a few scuff marks here and there, especially on the stair well, and a large area in the kitchen (next to the big cupboard) that has obviously been banged and needs some re-plastering work - so I am sure the owner will be looking to do some remedial work soon. I hope so as this is otherwise a perfect holiday getaway in a beautiful location. Would love to take the family back there some time

This was our third stay here. The place is looking a bit tired and in need of redecoration. The fire does not get very warm, however the heating is more than adequate. I wasn’t happy about the charge for the dogs and a camp bed ( which we didn’t need and hadn’t asked for), I was informed about this in an email from the owners days before our stay. It was termed as an extra and was charged independently of our earlier booking balance. So beware you may get charged ‘extras’.

What a wonderfull place to stay with the family! It is clean and high comfort. We loved the fireplace and the kitchen. The beds were excellent except the sofa-bed in the livingroom for the two extra guests. This one should definetely be replaced by the owner.

This cottage (house) was such a wonderful place to stay. It was warm, comfortable, large enough for two couples and a baby to stay (three bedrooms, but also sofa bed) and a real home from home. We did not want to leave. The location was perfect and the village ideal. The Castle Dunstanburgh Hotel was welcoming and the food was great. We would not hesitate to stay here again. The only thing I would say, is that it would be great if the two sofas were replaced with a large corner unit sofa, as four adults just had enough room on the two sofas.

Myself and 5 of my friends stayed at the cottage. It's beautiful inside, clean towels and linen provided, even hairdryers. The owners thought of everything. It's a lovely comfortable place to stay. Embleton is also lovely, a gorgeous beach very close by to go for nice walks. The food at sambucas is lovely and very reasonable. We also had a good night at the Grey Inn. People are very friendly and welcoming. We'd definitely recommend staying at the Old Police House. We had a very relaxing weekend.

We had a fantastic few days at the Old Police House. It was even better than we expected after reading the recent reviews. It was so big and spacious and ideal location. We booked the cottage next door for some other members of our family and we loved the shared garden. There is a lovely play area just around the corner so the little ones were happy, We were there for a family wedding at Newton Hall which is only a short car journey away. We will definitely be doing a return visit soon. Thank you Michael for your help and advice beforehand. The only problem we had was that there was no hand rail/banister on the top part of the staircase which proved to be quite difficult for our older members of the family.

An excellent cottage with full facilities and ample parking for the 3 cars. Great location for our visit. Most enjoyable stay for us all
