Der Eisenbahnwaggon war sehr schön restauriert. Wir haben uns sehr wohlgefühlt. Bei Ankunft stand eine Flasche Wein bereit, die wir in der Aussenbadewanne getrunken haben :-)
Das Frühstück im Haus der Besitzer war sehr reichhaltig. Die Gespräche und Tipps sehr nett und hilfreich.
Danke für den schönen Aufenthalt- man schläft nicht so oft im Leben in einem Waggon.

As spectacular as in the photos
We were drawn in by the novelty of staying in a railway carriage, but Mike has made sure that everything you could possibly want is provided for, making great use of the space and using vintage railway objects in novel and thoughtful ways. It was a pleasure to sit on the decking in front and look at the ocean, and indulge Missy the dog when she came looking for some attention. We also loved the home cooked, and plentiful, breakfasts!

Estancia perfecta
Nos alojamos durante una noche en este precioso y único lugar y ha sido uno de los mejores sitios donde hemos estado jamás. Decir que Kaikoura es espectacular y el acceso en coche a la zona principal de la ciudad es aproximadamente de 10 minutos al igual que a la playa donde se pueden ver unos amaneceres increíbles. Sin embargo, lo mejor es dormir en un vagón de tren antiguo hecho hotel y con todo mimado hasta el mínimo detalle. El baño es perfecto, pero además hay una bañera en la parte trasera al aire libre donde tienes total privacidad. Existe un nevera y utensilios para preparar té y café y además una magnífica selección de películas en DVD (originarias de NZ). Mike el anfitrión nos preparó un desayuno espectacular la mañana siguiente y fue encantador, alguien con quien da gusto de compensar. Fuimos sus primeros huésped españoles y esperamos volver algún día, porque nos fascinó. Un 10.

Who wouldn't want to sleep in a carriage under the Milky Way?
The photo of the carriage with the Kaikoura Alps in the background is not Photoshopped. What you see is what you get. Admittedly there was no snow when we visited in February, but what a great location and charming, well-thought out 'room.' The finish and consideration given to the interior of the converted carriage is terrific and you are a three minute walk from a quiet beach.
The hosts are generous and the breakfast was more than we could eat. There's telly and WiFi of course, but with the Milky Way over your head, why would you want to sit inside at night. Spectacular, engaging, memorable. Or is that not what you're looking for?

Totally AWESOME!
We absolutely loved our stay here! The carriage was so unique and fun. Comfy bed, awesome shower and beautiful sound of the ocean. Mike and susie-Lee have thought of everything and are amazing hosts and are the loveliest couple. The breakfast is to die for and you walk across the road to the beach. This is by far the best place to stay in Kaikoura and there is no where else like it in the whole of NZ! Big thumbs up from us 👍🏻

A totally unique stay in South Island
I had great expectations for our stay at Hapuku Carriages but our stay totally exceeded them. It was a very unique experience and certainly the most memorable stay in our 6 week trip to New Zealand.
Mike was a great host and I would recommend this location to anyone.

Accommodation at its finest!
From the moment you arrive you feel right at home. The attention to detail in the carriage decor, the outdoor bath area and wee treats on arrival all make for a magical stay. We can’t thank you enough for making our stay so enjoyable. We will be back for sure!

Relaxed and great Kiwi style hospitality
Spent a nice relaxing night here and even though the weather wasn't great the hospitality more then made up for it. Awesome place to spend a night and the outdoor bath and huge breakfast is worth coming for alone, cheers for a great break away. These guys need your support. Ryan and Nicola

Luxurious carriage by the sea
This is a magical place to stay. a unique not to be missed experience to spend the night in a beautifully refurbished railway carriage right on the beach. The attention to little details by the hosts enhances the experience- chocolates, wine in the fridge, fresh flowers, lovely toiletries, an outdoor bathtub!
Breakfast was delicious.

Beautiful
This is an exceptional and unique location to stay.
The bad outside is a delight to use .
It is close to town and the beach .
