Tucked away in soothing bucolic environs, conveniently equidistant between Pollença and the magnificent sandy beach of Port de Pollença, this is a perfect property in which to escape from everyday hustle and bustle and enjoy an appealingly unspoilt corner of Mallorca whist maintaining easy access to all amenities (including many first-rate restaurants). Dating from the late eighteenth century (and still in the same family ownership) it is such a pleasure to see so many original and traditional farmhouse features either lovingly preserved or faithfully replicated. Thick walls of cooling whitewash or exposed local stone, patterned floor tiles, wide archways, substantial hardwood ceiling beams and chunky, studded oak doors are all in eye-catching evidence. Subtle use of the island’s distinct patterned fabrics can be seen in cushions, seat covers and curtains alongside a striking selection of colourful artwork depicting island life, scenery, flora and fauna. Externally, the property’s well-preserved original water well and bread oven have assumed ornamental purpose in the covered barbecue house; an eclectic collection of antique farming implements, barrels, benches and substantial olive oil ‘jarras’ is caringly displayed in the former stable, old animal pens quirkily border the rear patio and the long, shaded front terrace offers welcome refuge for al fresco dining, reclining, reading (or snoozing!) when temperatures hit their height. Principle feature of the enclosed garden, the larger than average private pool is a real ‘sun trap’; being raised above ground level allows far-reaching rural views from the sun terrace and gated access enhances peace of mind for parents of younger children. Well-marked cycling and walking trails abound in this area as well as the nearby Tramuntana foothills. Beaches, shops, restaurants, boat hire, water sports and golf are all within a ten minute drive or why not take the efficient local train from Sa Pobla (17km) and enjoy a day trip to Inca market (Thursday) or the vibrant capital Palma.
