Rather than the typical resort you’d find along the Riviera Maya, I was looking for a relaxing beach house experience for my family of 4. Having been to the area many times and resting after a major illness, I was looking for a vacation rental that would deliver pure relaxation - and the Playa Secreto Fish Villa more than delivered! From the moment we booked, Liza and Miguel took care of everything - our biggest decision each day was deciding which spectacular menu items we would order. The house is exceptionally clean - about thirty minutes after we arrived I realized I had been walking around the house barefoot, so I looked down to get a view of the bottoms of my feet - and they were completely clean, I couldn’t believe it! I had walked every square inch of the Villa checking things out and oooing and ahhhing over each room, and there was not a stitch of dirt to be found. Because we were looking to stay on property and relax, we had almost every one of our meals prepared by the amazing chef Miguel & his team - and the food was absolutely amazing. We had 1 vegetarian in our group, and 3 meat eaters, and everyone absolutely raved about the food. We would have happy hour (a pitcher of cocktails + a large appetizer) served early afternoon everyday - around lunch time, and then dinner around sunset (7 pm). There was always plenty of food for leftovers, which we would save and use to start our breakfast in the morning, accompanied by eggs, fresh fruit, and coffee that Liza and Miguel stocked for us in the refrigerator ahead of our arrival. The beach is absolutely beautiful, perfect warm turquoise water with equally perfect powdery white sand, and a matching sandy ocean bottom makes for a difficult decision when it comes to ocean or pool. We spent most of our days pivoting back and forth from the ocean to the pool, where we would move our umbrella along with the sun to keep an area of the pool shaded for reading books and sipping cocktails. Liza and Miguel’s team is incredibly kind and very helpful, and we felt like a part of the family by the end of the week. They arranged everything for us from airport transportation to covid testing for the flight home, grocery shopping, every meal, in-home massages, and even taxis when we needed them. We couldn’t ask for a better stay, and can’t wait to return!
